my boyfriend and I have been going back and forth with this discussion. He think's he's too young for one and that he'll just end up breaking it and I think it would be good for him and it's better than buying him toys that he's just going to break in a week. Plus I dont see it being that easy to break a game system, although my nieces I guess already broke their wii
My son earned a wii for doing good in school. I think its a great idea to get your six year old a wii because it teached them responsibility. i also use my sons wii for bribes lol when he is acting up at practice or not being good in the store i often say " i will count to three and if you havent changed your mind about your behavior, you will lose you wii for a week" lol and it works like a charm. good luck
My son got his Wii for his birthday this year. Personally, as long as you teach them to take care of it, I don't see any problems with it getting broken. It's great for rainy days when you can't get outside and expend all that energy a 6 year old has! I like that it's not just another sit-and-stare game system, it keeps him active and involved, and is a great activity to get everyone spending more time together! And of course, a wonderful tool for getting them to do things to get Wii time, or to not do things to avoid having it taken away!
Hi,
I have a 3 year old and a 6 year old. we got them a Wii last year for christmas. They love it. The 6 year old shows responsibility in takin care of the games, and making sure his chores are done before he even asks to turn it on.. The 3 year old on the other hand.... Different story, in fact he broke 2 of the game discs. I don't know about the xbox, that to me seems like a more adult system. I think the Wii has way more kid games and the over all function kind of caters to them
My husband and I have all the next gen systems. My 6 year old daughter loves to play by herself and with us. She uses all systems but has an older PS2 in her room. She has a couple games and she watches movies on it. She ruined all her other dvd players but so far has been extremely responsible in regards to the PS2 in her room. Wii is fun but it can get difficult to play because her hand's not so steady. She loves Xbox arcade games. It's nice because the demos are free. We are a gaming household so I say go for it!
My mil has a Wii at her house my kids play with ( she lives 15mins away and my kids are there all the time). They love it and us adults love it also. At first we had to keep reminfding the kids not to swinging the remotes around, but after a few times they have no problem with it. They especially love the crazy golf game for it! All the adults love that one too!
my dd loves the wii...I have had it since it first came out so she was about eh 2 going on 3 ....She has played it since she could! She loves it! Heck the whole family loves it. We have a XBOX360 and she really shows no interest in it...There are more kid oriented games on the wii...If you go with a system go with a wii! As for breaking it...wow those lil kiddos that broke theirs must have been pretty hard on it.. I haven't had a problem with ours yet!

And Wife of a soon to be Police officer!
We have a Wii, and I think it is very family freindly - what I liked about it was the games that are easy enough for small kids to play. It sets in the living room and my 5 yr old knows to ask permission and help in loading a new disc. But most of the time her game is in there anyway and she just turns it on- It is also helping her with her reading skills. My brother has very active boys age 3,4,9 and they break everything - but he has not had a problem with their Wii system.
