Do any of you have a kid who is great with numbers too?

Dylan is only 6, just turned 6 in August, and he can count to 113, count by 10's and 5's and can tell time.  He is pretty far ahead of his classmates with these.  At confrence, his teacher told me that when a student ask her what time it is, she tells them to ask Dylan lol.  He is also learning how to spell and read.  He can spell all the days of the week, knows some sight words, and can even pick out certain words when he see's me type.  He is a very smart kid, although he has a problem that can mask how smart he is.  Were not sure yet, as he goes in for testing on Dec. 11th with a pediatric psychologist.  We were at the initial appointment to see if he needed to be tested and that doctor said after testing him a little bit that he may have asperger's syndrome.  He is displaying two out of three characteristics for it and possible ADHD too.  He did however say that if the test does show he has asperger's, that it is so mild, it would have no impact on his life when he got older.

He has an excellent memory too.  He also has trouble communticating like a 6 year old should.  He understands what you tell him but when you ask him questions, like why questions, he says yes or no instead of why he likes something or why he is doing that.  But if you ask him what he is doing he'll answer you.  So his doctor, me and the psychologist do not know where he is as far as mental development.  He developed normally as a baby, except for speech.  He seemed to be behind but since he is a boy, I figured he would catch up.    Oh goodness I'm rambling.  Sorry.  It was suppose to be a quick post but I got going. lol.  So anyway back to my original question.  Do any of you ladies have a child who is also great with number's?

Congratulations! Yes my daughter is a math whiz. She too is only 6, last year in first grade she had to be given special math assignments. (Such as adding and subtracting three digit numbers.) She does math in her head and is constantly telling us scenarios where she has to add/subtract various numbers or time. She had to skip K (which is why she's in 2nd now) and had to join the gifted program. (It's not just math, she excels in all areas, except maturity.) All in an attempt to keep her mind working. So maybe some of Dylans problems are because he is not challenged enough. We still have issues with that in fact. Good luck to you and Dylan. Hopefully the testing can answer some questions. Keep him challenged! Young minds are so brilliant!!
