HI, As crazy as it sounds I was just wondering if it's me or can any other mom's smell a fever? When my son gets a fever I can always smell it on his breath, on his skin it's weird! I've always thought anyone could but my hubby doesn't.. I can tell he's running a fever even without a thermometer. What about you??

it's a mom thing. my husband cant smell it either. but his mom and i can both smell when one of my kids are getting sick. my guess is because i'm so close to them all the time that when their scent changes i react to it.

I can, and so can dh. I can also see it before I get the thermometer. With dd2 it is easier to tell when she has a fever than dd1 though.

Yup Everything you described!

also like if ds1 or ds2 wakes up in the middle of the night crying and they are in another bedroom I can smell it as soon as I open the door

I can also tell what their temp is just by touching them not exact exact like I can say 101 102, 103 etc

Yep...me too!  I can total smell and feel w/out touching when they are getting a fever.  We were at the movies in Oct. and just knew that my son was getting H1N1.  That night around mid-night his fever was 102.  I just had that mom feeling and my spouse thought he was just faking being tired and trying to get us to carry him.  I just knew he would be full blown by morning...Unfortunately, I was right...but yes, I have that mominstinct too!

Totally the same for me.
I smell her getting sick before she does. Usually if I smell her in the morning, then send her off to school, I'm getting a call to pick her up by lunchtime. The only other person who could smell her when she was sick was a daycare teacher.
Funny how mothers are isn't it? :)

I always thought that my mother-in-law was nuts when she said that she could smell an ear infection in my kids but with my son i can smell them too but my girls i still can't smell it in them and i have been able so smell fevers too but not as well as has been described by some of the other moms. i have pretty bad allergies and screwed up sinuses so sometimes i can't smell anything for days.
