Ok here it is, my five year still poops in his pants. He doesn't do it at school, only at home. I have tried, the chart thing, the reward thing, and even time out. Nothing is working. I don't know what else to do. Can anyone help? Am i alone.
Seriously frustrated MOM!
You are not totally alone. My almost 5 year old is not popping, but he is peeing in his pants. To me that is equally frustrating. I can't give you any advice, however, I can comment that I too have been trying all kinds of rewards and charts and Blah Blah...I just want him to stop!!
Good Luck to you...
Do you help him clean up after himself, or make him do it all by himself?
My daughter pooped her pants long after she was potty trained, and I finally told her that her poop has to go into the toilet, and she needs to put it there herself.
Well, after a week of picking poop balls up off the floor, she agreed that it was much easier (and less gross) to just use the toilet instead of her pants.
I was really firm. I showed her one time how to use toilet paper to pick up the poop and put it in the toilet, but after that I absolutey refused to help her, no matter how hard or long she screamed and cried over it. I just kept saying, "Poop belongs in the toilet, and it's your job to put it there."
Good luck!

10-15 minutes after he eats put him on the toilet for 5-10 minutes.......with a book or something......my daughter went through a constipation thing and the dr said sometimes you have to retrain the bowels...i gave this advice to another a few weeks ago and they said it is really working
Okay, my only advice is to follow exjerseygirl's advice. My son had been pooping in his pants for months. I followed her advice and within a week, no more accidents. None. At all. I am still in shock over it. THANK YOU exjerseygirl!!!!!

Proud mom of 4 kids!![]()
Sorry, i dont have any advice other than to talk to his pediatrician about it, maybe he has some ideas... But my husband's 7 year old nephew still poops his pants too, he doesnt in school, but only at home and at other ppl's homes. Everytime he comes over to my house i can smell it right away.. but he's on Ritalin, which i guess causes it to happen sometimes.. im not sure.

You are most certainly NOT alone! My son turned 5 in May of this year and still poops in his pants. I, too, have tried everything! We even took him to a pediatric GI specialist to rule out anything medical, and have taken him to a child psychologist to make sure it was not mental...both agree he is just being stubborn and will poop in the potty when he is ready...but I sure wish he would be ready soon. It is so frustrating! He is in Kindergarten now, and I know it's just a matter of time before the kids start making fun of him for it. Maybe we can share all of our methods and see if we can come up with something together!

WOW! I thought I was the only one with this problem! My 5 1/2 yr old son has been potty trained since he was 2 1/2, but still pooping in his pants. At his last check up, we were told to give him Miralax once a day for 2 weeks to "flush out his system". It worked fairly well. Since he has started school he hasn't had an accident (knock on wood!!). Good luck!
My son is five and would poop his pants from time to time. We had not had an accident in a really long time but suddenly he would prefer to play and watch tv rather than go to the toilet. It happens more at school. Appreciate any advance. He is going into big school and I don't want him to be made fun of.
