Does anyone know why there is an age limit on safe haven?

Does anyone know why there is an age limit on safe haven? 

Most states it is either either 72 hours and 30 days.  I only found 3 that was up to 1 yr. 

Still, thinking about all those people that don't seem to "want" thier babies/children" , such a short seems to be counter-productive.

I think the same thing. People that would actually take their child to a safe have are probably not handling their child very well. I hate to insinuate abusein all cases, but it's highly likely. Wouldn't we rather prevent this?

i'm from georgia and there was a women from ATL that was on the news and she took her 12 yr old son to a hospital in nebraska because there safe haven law has no age limit
