If you've decided who to vote for in the election (or even if you didn't), how did you make your decision?

Was it based on the issues, or just liking one candidate better than the other?

Tell us in the thread below.

  • Obama may be a CITIZEN. But as for a patriot of our country he won't even put his hand over his heart and say allegience to our flag!! Also it HAS NOT been proven that he is a "natural born citizen" (born in the U.S.) which is also a requirement to run for president. I'm not sure how he has gotten this far except that the media is so in love with him that they won't even look for anything bad about him.

There are at least 8 law suits that are commanding him to produce his ORIGINAL birth certificate. He says it is on his website but that has been PROVEN false!!

I am voting for the true patriot that is not afraid to stand and fight for our country!!

I am also voting for marriage, family and the unborn child!

WOW!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I could not have said it better.  I do not trust him. I think he may be the anti -crist. I am terrified of what he will do to this country. Everything he wants to do is the things stated in the bible will happen at the end times.

Obama is American that is a fact...not really an opinion...  Is you are saying he does not act        "American" -what ever that is?  Then that is an opinion.

Well to start He may have been born here but he no American. He does not support the country my Husband is willing to die for. He supports someone who says "God Damn America." that is no American. Just because you were born here does not make you American just as you dont have be born here to be an American, there are plenty of people who were not born in this amazing country who are more American that Obama is.

  • Issues. I'm for the Constitution of the United States. I'm for freedom. I'm against abortion and would rather not help contribute to it through my taxes. I'd rather not have my taxes go sky high, because a Democrat thinks that he has the wisdom to distribute my money wisely. What about his family members that are living in poverty while he lives in wealth? Is he distributing his money wisely to them? What is the true meaning of FREE enterprise?!  Nobody should get a free hand-out if they are able to work for a living. Democrates just make lazy ppl more lazier. Also, I want freedom of religion and separation of church and state. I'm for a man who is PROUD to be an American and not ashamed to wear the emblem of our country. I'm for the 2nd Amendment and don't want to not be able to protect myself and my family, if need be. I voted for John McCain because he has more experience and is proud to be an American. This is just my opinion.

  • He's American,....believe what you want to believe.    Also he actually said his "Muslim Faith..."  nothing about being American in the statement but it was taken out of context...

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wpoAVAA1F30

I really don't care about what religion someone is, hence separation of church and state...

My christian faith tells me to teach the work of God, not try to shove my morals down someone's throat.  Politics and religion are separate.

Democrats do not make lazy people lazier...  My family works harder and is more educated than many of our republican friends...and yes I have many republican friends.  We believe in doing for our country, protecting the constitutional rights of Americans and fighting for our country. My grandfather fought in War World II and my dad in Vietnam, they were both in the navy.   My republican friends (aquitances)...are the one's that collect WIC and welfare, they would rather not work or send their kids to daycare because they would have to pay more taxes and would lose their benefits.  This is just the situations I've run into.  I am willing to pay for other people's children to have healthcare, receive a quality education and have the same dreams as my children.  I would spread the wealth gladly, if I made that much...I might be in a couple years, once I'm a CRNA.   I don't want my family members to fight this war anymore and I want know when they are coming home, or going to dig Osama Bin Laden out of his dialysis ridden cave, with an end date.  Not 100 more years.  I want to protect the women's right to choose, because I don't want other's telling me what to do with MY body (I am against 3rd trimester abortion except in medically necessary cases).  Mainly I want to be able to sell my house, buy my new house, and send my kids to college while retaining some of my retirement.  I'll enjoy my middle class tax break for a while and if I ever make over 250,000 I'll gladly pay more.  I am proud to be an American whose voting for Obama.  Oh, did I forget to tell you my husband is a registered Republican who is much lazier then I am.

  • I was rather conflicted at first...I am a very Pro-life person...but I am also very Pro-gay rights/marriage...Since these issues are on opposite sides of the spectrum I had to put those issues aside and look at the other issues that are important to me such as the economy, education, energy independence...which I found I liked more what Obama said than McCain...So as pro-life as I am I had to look at what policies would turn our country around, even if Roe v Wade was overturned that would not save our economy, that would not make us energy independent, that would not help with health care or education...

Also watching the debates I began leaning even more towards Obama because McCain seemed to me to act like a 5 year old throwing a tantrum, he spent more time berating Obama than actually discussing his policies.

And the final nail in McCain's coffin for me was his VP pick, the possibility of Palin in the white house makes me slightly ill.

  • The issues are how I make my decisions. And not just one above all others, but in the end, who I believe will run this government as closely to how I want to see it run as possible.

  • I noticed that too in the debates. Also it struck me as odd that he would continually berate Obama's experience and then pick someone with even less exp for vp nominee.  I just didn't like the way he ran his campaign. We had a ton of smear ads by McCain's people where I live and I thought it was very juvenile. There were barely any from Obama's people.

I don't agree with McCain's  policies regarding tax breaks to the extremely wealthy and taxing health care benefits. All in all I agreed with Obama more and am so happy he won. But  I do respect the fact that McCain conceded gracefully. I hadn't expected that and have to give him props for being a good sport about it.

I make decisions with my intuition picking the choice that is for the highest good for our nation, our world and our whole human race, not just for America.

Hillary is my girl, I was going to vote for right from the start, but as time when, I lost respect for the campaign she was running. and I had to side with Obama.  Like fauver2204 stated I have issues concerning Pro-life and  Pro-gay right/marriage, but bigger issues were on the table and Palin has always been a loose cannon.

McCain ran his campaign bad mouthing Obama. instead of getting his own platform and sticking to that. He really is not a bad guy.
