I went for my 6 week check up yesterday. All my blood work was good. I've lost 34 pounds since my surgery, and they finally released me to exericse. They said I need to start focusing on strength training. I DO NOT want to go to a gym. We live on an Army post and the gym is filled with soldiers and women all in perfect shape. The closest public one is 30 minutes away, and I know I would never keep up with that. I printed off some exercises to do with dumb bells and resistence bands from spark.com, but is it enough? I picked 10 upper body and 10 lower body to start. What do you do?
I know when I was first post op walking was my best exercise at first. I did gradually go to a gym but it wasn't until I was about 6 months post op and it was a pay as you go gym (1.00) day. I know the trainer there that took me under his wing had me doing three days of cardio/areobics and two days of weight training. From the sounds of it what you have picked out though sounds good as a start. I don't know if you have the space or even any thrift stores around but I purchased a few months ago a recumbant exercise bike from one for 30.00. I love it. Also freecycle is another place to get free exercise equipment. At least where I'm at Ive seen a lot of listings for treadmills, weights, etc..
