Infant Potty Training
My daughter is almost 2 months old and she usually gives decent signs that she's fixing to poo, but not on pee yet. (Although, in cloth diapers, it's not long after she pees that she lets everyone know LOL) I've just started EC in the last week and set her on the potty when she wakes up and for a few minutes after meals. But, I read somewhere that you can cue the baby to do it while she's on the potty. I was just wondering what they meant by that. Does that mean making a sound or running the faucet or something?
Just curious.
TIA,
Clara

When I notice her pooping, then I will say, "ngg... ngg.." (kind of sound like hmm.. hmm...) It's teaching her to verbalize her "need" and also cueing her to let her know, "okay, you're on the potty now. you can feel free go shh... shh... if you need to." She is now a 2-yr-old. She loves the potty a lot because we get to spend one-on-one time together. Some times, she even forgets why she's on the potty. I have to remind her some times, "shhh... shh...." or "nng... nng...." Very early on, she can verbalize what she is doing or what she did. We are still working on verbalizing it before it happens. =) She can do it once or twice a day (or none a day). You are right, it's like turning on the faucet to give her the cue... just less wasting of water. =) Some children/people have a hard time concentrating to pee, they sometimes need the faucet sound to drown out other distractions.
