We have Eced with my son since he was about 2 months old. I am not the most consistant person unfortunantly so part time was about all we managed, I also have 4 older son's that keep me busy, so we were doing great! At 8 months I started back to work and the sitter offered the toilet to him occasionally but didn't really clue into his cues. We kept Ecing in the afternoons and evenings. Having said all that....even with just ECing part time Dugan is using the potty fulltime (even at night) by 23 months and I owe it all to ECing.

He has never not known what the potty was or how to use it. He was never "scared" of the potty like so many toddlers are! I am so thankful that I found ECing, it is just so logical IMO!

So to all you moms out there that think I can't do this cause I don't have time, the sitter will never go for this...etc! You can do it, it is so worth it everytime you LO doesn't have to use a diaper and stays clean!

Thank all of you for all the great info, keep spreading the knowledge and maybe someday soon ECing will be the norm!

  • Thanks for this post. I got the Diaper Free book and have been reading it and want to start with my 10th month old I just don't know how exactly to start. It is nice to hear that even doing it part time works! Gives me hope.

    Thanks again!

  • This is kinda what we did with  DS. We started out at 2 weeks old and we tried to catch his "cues" but it was really hard. We worked more with just timing and tried to catch pees and poos before he did them in the diaper. We also would just hold him over the potty when we changed him. He is now 22 months and goes without a diaper all day (as of 2 weeks ago). I love that the transition has been so smooth! This is my first kid, so I have nothing to compare it to, but I see so many q's in other groups from moms that don't even know where to start. I just smile and think, you shoulda EC'ed! :)
