Ok, so I want to try ECing with my twin boys. I know they poop almost every morning between when they wake up and about 11:00 so I've been watching them, but I never see anything! They always go and I had no idea. But I don't even really know what I'm looking for. Can you give me some examples of what you look for in your baby???

Thanks in advance.

  • i think a lot of babies make a face or a little grunt. maybe squirm a bit. if you breastfeed, it might be happening then! you might try just holding a diaper under one of them until he goes. then you can see their timing and physical cues. i made a certailn "potty sound" whenever my son would pee or poo. then when i held him over the toilet and made that sound, he knew it was time to let loose. amazingly, it works--even though many more challenges await.

  • My DD makes a face and sometimes grunts when she's pooping...you can always tell because her eyebrowns turn red.  If she's playing, she pauses for a few seconds at a time or has very slow, close movements.  In the bathtub she squats instead of sitting on her bottom.  When she's done, if I don't catch her in time to put her on the potty, I'll ask her if she has poops.  If she does, she grabs the back of her pants or diaper.

If you have twins I'd think it would be hard to watch for cues from both of them at the same time.  I'd try watching one for a couple of days and then the other.  I'm not a mother of twins, but I would think it would be easier to focus on subtle signs from one at a time.

    Good luck!
