I had my first Starbucks this year.  The only thing I've ever had was the Decaf coffee-based Hazelnut Frap.

I was told over the weekend, upon my ordering one, was that they don't do coffee-based anymore!

What the problem is that!!!!!!!!!!!!! Argh

I had the creme-based frap...UGH!  Horrible.  Just like a flavored slush, not worth it

Hi : D

I work at Starbucks and think some stores might not carry decaf fraps because of a combination of lack of sales and limited fridge space.   Starbucks has sooo many products and so many different ingredients for their beverages that its almost impossible to carry all of them in one store.  I know some people come to my store and are upset that we don't have pumpkin loaf... well we got rid of that to bring in butter croissants which had a much higher demand!  With frap bases, they only have a 24 hr shelf life once theyre made.. so if say only one drink is made out of the base, the labor as well as the ingredient cost might be more costly.

of course these are all jmo!  Some stores might make this base still (I know ours has it, but not in winter due to eggnog) good luck!

In the last 3 weeks, I've been to 4 different Starbucks.  Two of them still had the decaf coffee based, whew!  So, now in reading your post, I won't be upset next time I go it those for another. Thanks for the insight info. Much appreciated.

I went to one in San Diego last week, the gal said too, they don't have it anymore. So, she made something similiar for me to try, almost the same- A cold decaf hazelnut but, she added 2 shots of espressso, decaf.  It was actually good. However, I think next time I think I'll just have one shot of espresso.

I told the gal about the white creme based drink, she says perhaps they forgot or just didn't know. Anyhow, that espresso made all the difference for sure.

It still isn't the same as what I am so used to, but, it's good and worth the trip again. I made her right it down so I wouldn't forget the mix. hehe

However, I am learning that some Starbucks employees are more helpful then others.  It really makes a difference when the employee cares enough to suggest something else very similiar to what we are used to. I will definitely go back to the one in San Diego again.
