How Do I Make it??

The tea is very easy to prepare, and yet the directions can seem unclear.

This thread is for sharing how we prepare our Holy Tea. As with anything, there is more than one "right" way :)

Here's how I make mine:

  • I boil about 2 cups of water in a small pan
  • then I add two tea bags
  • I turn off the burner but leave the pan on the hot burner (we have an electric stove)
  • cover with a tight lid
  • allow to steep for 8+ hours
  • pour into a measuring cup and then into a gallon jug
  • pop in tea bags as well
  • add water to fill jug
  • put on cap
  • refrigerate filled jug
That's it!

Hi Andrea,

This sounds pretty simple, doesn;t it? Although leave it to me to screw it up! <ha ha>

Really, I used to take it off the heat right away but I read the directions again once and it didn't say to do that so I just turned OFF the heat and let it boil a little. Then it steeped as usual. Turned out stronger and more effective, in my experience.

I was wondering if anyone here has added it to juices or drinks like Crystal Light. Is it just as effective?

A couple of important points.  I've read a lot about making sure that one is not microwaving the water, but only boiling it.  Also that the tea bags should never be in boiling water, so it's actually good to let it sit for a minute once you turn the heat off, before adding the tea bags.

I actually love the tea just as it is and haven't added it to anything else.

Are folks using the dried, used tea herbs in food?  I have a jar of them, but have yet to remember to put the herbs in a food item.

Be the change you wish to see!

I saved over $85 in my first week!

I like the tea just as it is, too, but sometimes my tastebuds just like something different. I did try it with Crystal Light Raspberry Ice and it was pretty good. Crystal Light can be a little too sweet for me sometimes but it was just perfect with the tea added in.

I'm back to drinking it straight, however. :-) The tea, that is.

'Ya know -- I made this yummy cauliflower curry the other night that I could easily have thrown some into and I spaced it.

But on second thought ... I wonder whether I want to feed it to my family without a heads up??

<grin>

Hi Eunice -

I've been adding it to Cranberry juice this week to head off a uti -- bleh. Seems to be working and makes the creanberry juice taste better too :)
