Drinking Tea on an Empty Stomach? First thing in the morning?

I was just wondering if anyone ever drinks the tea on an empty stomach, or first thing in the morning?

I did both this morning.  Everything was fine.  Then I went for a walk and had a smoothie for breakfast.

Not long after breakfast I started getting crampy.  Then I had a very loose BM.  I'm still a bit crampy and bloated.

I don't know if this is necessarily a bad thing.  Yesterday I didn't go very well, and I know I have years of stuff that needs to come out.

I was just wondering if any one else has ever had this kind of thing happen to them?

The directions say to take with food so I drink mine first thing in the morning with something like half a whole wheat bagel and peanut butter. I've read anyway that you should eat within 45 minutes of rising to keep your blood sugar stabilized so I drink my tea and munch my bagel while I get my hubby's lunch, etc together for him to go to work.

I usually walk mid morning, then I come back and have my smoothie. I've been adding about 4 oz of the tea to the smoothie also.

My cramps and diarrhea continued all through the day.  I am still not 100%.  I won't be doing that again!  From now on I drink the tea WITH food!
