To parents of step children...

Looks like I was one of the lucky ones.... my step kids call me mom as my kids my my DH dad.... we did not ask this of them.... they did it on their own.

I wish mine would call me mom more. My younger two step boys say "mommy" sometimes and Joe will talk about me as mom. I say "mommy needs this or that" when talking to them. Hopefully someday the older ones will call me something other than "Barbara". A nickname would be nice...i just hate "barbara"...that's what strangers call me LOL

I may be in a different situation though.  I voted my DS calls me Mom.  I have raised him as mine since before he turned 2.  He has only seen his BM 3 times since I have had him.  And we took him to see her for three weekends and as soon as she got him she pawned him off on whoever would take him so I guess he doesn't remember her. 

My stepsons' birthmom is similar. She actually takes them every other weekend but pawns them off on others usually. So it's really nice to meet another step parent with primary custody of the stepbabies:)
