The Christians and the Pagans Lyrics:
Amber called her uncle, said ’we’re up here for the holiday,
Jane and I were having solstice, now we need a place to stay.’
And her christ-loving uncle watched his wife hang mary on a tree,
He watched his son hang candy canes all made with red dye number three.
He told his niece, ’its christmas eve, I know our life is not your style,’
She said, ’christmas is like solstice, and we miss you and it’s been awhile,’

So the christians and the pagans sat together at the table,
Finding faith and common ground the best that they were able,
And just before the meal was served, hands were held and prayers were said,
Sending hope for peace on earth to all their gods and goddesses.

The food was great, the tree plugged in, the meal had gone without a hitch,
Till timmy turned to amber and said, ’is it try that you’re a wtich? ’
His mom jumped up and said, ’the pies are burning,’ and she hit the kitchen,
And it was jane who spoke, she said, ’its true, your cousins not a christian,’
’but we love trees, we love the snow, the friends we have, the world we share,
And you find magic from your god, and we find magic everywhere,’

So the christians and the pagans sat together at the table,
Finding faith and common ground the best that they were able,
And where does magic come from? I think magics in the learning,
Cause now when christians sit with pagans only pumpkin pies are burning.

When amber tried to do the dishes, her aunt said, ’really, no, don’t bother.’
Ambers uncle saw how amber looked like tim and like her father.
He thought about his brother, how they hadnt spoken in a year,
He thought hed call him up and say, ’its christmas and your daughters here.’
He thought of fathers, sons and brothers, so his own son tug his sleeve, saying,
’can I be a pagan? ’ dad said, ’well discuss it when they leave.’

So the christians and the pagans sat together at the table,
Finding faith and common ground the best that they were able,
Lighting trees in darkness, learning new ways from the old, and
Making sense of history and drawing warmth out of the cold.

I really have no idea of how to interpret this.
Can someone kindly do that for me?

Well, it's really just about a family that's accepted that it is multi-religious.  I think it's kind of cute and sweet.
It's a big rock. Can't wait to show my friends. They don't have a rock that big. - Spike http://www.cafepress.com/uniquities http://www.cafepress.com/wedsday

Here it goes, first the song is sung by a Pagan and a Pagans point of view..
It is my opinion that extreeme sterotypes are presented in this song but I think thats what makes the point of the song clear

The Christians and the Pagans Lyrics:
Amber called her uncle, said ’we’re up here for the holiday,
Jane  ( Jane and Amber are gay Pagans, strong sterotype)and I were having solstice,( Solstice is Dec 22 ( or 21 can't remember) but it is the Pagans "Christmas" it is in short the return of the Sun, The figt between the Holly King and The Oak King, it is a time for rest, reflection and a time to know that the Sun will return, just like the birth of the christians Son , Jesus and thats why Amber says "Christmas is like Solstice)  now we need a place to stay.’
And her christ-loving uncle watched his wife hang mary on a tree,( The tree is a Pagan tradition adopted by early christians and now slowly not excepted as a christian tradition by more consertive Christians, like the Evevangical s)
He watched his son hang candy canes all made with red dye number three.( well artificial coloring is nasty, another Pagan extreeme sterotype, like we are all Organic)
He told his niece, ’its christmas eve, I know our life is not your style,’( self explanitory, they are Pagans and gay and the Uncle and his family are Christians)
She said, ’christmas is like solstice,( explained above) and we miss you and it’s been awhile,’

So the christians and the pagans sat together at the table,
Finding faith and common ground the best that they were able,
And just before the meal was served, hands were held and prayers were said,
Sending hope for peace on earth to all their gods and goddesses.( both religions are praying to their God or Gods, most Pagans beleive all Gods are one God, they are both praying for peace and hope but just using a differant phone number to call the big guy or girl upstairs, kwim?, they are not that differant at all)

The food was great, the tree plugged in, the meal had gone without a hitch,
Till timmy turned to amber and said, ’is it try that you’re a wtich? ’( ahh out of the mouths of babes lol, being a witch is another topic and I'll assume you know what a witch is, if not I'll explain farther)

I think magics in the learning,( said by the Pagan)
Cause now when christians sit with pagans only pumpkin pies are burning.( the burning times ( witch hunts), that is my favorite part of the song )

’ dad said, ’well discuss it when they leave.’ ( the Dad whispers this to his son, like shhhh)

So the christians and the pagans sat together at the table,
Finding faith and common ground the best that they were able,
Lighting trees in darkness, learning new ways from the old, and
Making sense of history and drawing warmth out of the cold
.
That is the most beautiful part of the song, the old way is the Pagan religion, also known as the Old religion, and the new is the Christian religion, one must know their religious History on Pagans & Christians , and then they will be able to make sense ( or try to) out of history but regardless we have a choice, either sit and be cold towards eachother or find that common ground between Pagans and Christians, let the past be in the past and except one another, we don't have to be our ancestors, it is a choice, and on a personal note I choose to find the warmth :)
