"The 10 Mitzvot" Part Four: junior high home-ec and mixing blueberry muffins
Shabbat Shalom!! ืฉืืช ืฉืืื
I had learned a lot
from when I was a junior high home-ec student
... that Yahuah just showed me last weekend,
while we were chatting
and enjoying spending the day hanging out together
that applies to Shabbat!
Sometimes I'm a slow learner, but I am ALWAYS delighted when I get it,
(this time Yahuah used something else I've learned to be true... this time it happened to be 30 years later???! God's timing is perfect)
I thought I already knew everything I needed to really understand,
but hey, we got to eat [expereince, intimately know, ingest, be nourished by] our projects.
I discoverd there were "whole worlds" of concepts, tips, rules of thumb
that I had had no awareness of before. I didn't know I'd been missing anything.
I began learning godly humility/wisdom (see Proverbs 3:5-6)
"rules of thumb": there are some basic cooking rules to understand,
that always apply, that I can count on.
I can depend upon that this is the way it is.
And when I follow the recipe according to the direction and those rules of thumb,
I get the desired results (blessings). (see Deuteronomy 30:19-20)
I began learning the basic concept of Torah - no anxiety, no fear, no chaos, no uncertainty.
"So don't be anxious,
asking,
`What will we eat?,' `What will we drink?' or `How will we be clothed?'
For it is the pagans who set their hearts on all these things.
Your heavenly Father knows you need them all.
But seek first His Kingdom and His righteousness,
and all these things will be given to you as well.
~ Matthew 6:31-33 CJB
Then [Yeshua] said,
โCome to Me,
all of you who are weary and carry heavy burdens,
and I will give you rest.
Take My yoke upon you. Let Me teach you,
because I am humble and gentle at heart,
and you will find rest for your souls.
For My yoke is easy to bear,
and the burden I give you is light.โ
~ Matthew 11:28-30 NL
So I began knowing to depend upon on my rights and authority
as Child of the King,
as an ambassador in this world, of the Kingdom of God/Heaven
Jesus prayed for us;
โI'm not asking you to take them out of the world
but to protect them from the evil one.
They don't belong to the world
any more than I belong to the world.
Use the truth to make them holy.
Your words are truth.
I have sent them into the world
the same way you sent me into the world.
I'm dedicating myself to this holy work
I'm doing for them so that they, too,
will use the truth to be holy.โ
~ John 17:15-19 GWT
My mixing blueberry muffin batter lessons
letting the batter rest for at least five minutes
after mixing
and
before baking
allows for a nice "crown" over the top of muffins.
It rises higher.
And we get more out of the same basic amount of ingredients.
Not by my efforts of adding to them
but by allowing what we already have to rest. (Shabbat)
(this works for fluffier pancakes, too)
God blessed the seventh day and separated it as holy;
because on that day God rested from all His work
which He had created,
so that it itself could produce.
Genesis 2:3 CJB
So, too, I've learned, am learning to do what I need to be doing, JUST my part... and then trust Yahuah with the rest, of it, to work out the details: as He promised.
over "working" or over mixing muffin batter
produces LOTS of long tunnels
(full of lots of "hot air" = emptiness)
(empty spaces, holes, I've seen BIG holes in slices of store shelf breads)
And then the muffins come out too dense, (as in "not very bright")
not as appealing, hard. (not allowing myself to be kept by Shabbat)
~ Matthew 11:28-30 NL
name the days of the week:
Monday............Yom Sheini [second day] ืืื ืฉื ื
Tuesday.......... Yom Shelishi [third day] ืืื ืฉืืืฉื
Wednesday..... Yom Reviyi [fourth day] ืืื ืจืืืขื
Thursday........ Yom Chamishi [fifth day] ืืื ืืืืฉื
Friday.............. Yom Shishi [sixth day] ืืื ืฉืืฉื
Saturday......... Shabbat [day of rest, on the seventh day] ืฉืืช
We know by the days of the week that
Saturday IS the seventh day of the week.
Although the pagan practice was and is to worship the demon-god associated with the Sun
or to worship (honor) the creation (the Sun), not the Creator (Yahuah)
on the First day of the week.
So, too our Savior, Yeshua rose from the dead,
broke the power of sin and death.
we that we too can be a new creation (see 2 Corinthians 5:17)
on the First day of the week / and on the Feast of First Fruits.
as the first day of creation, began in chaos, darkness [ignorance]
but the Spirit of God was OVER it
and brought light [truth, reality, order]
"In the beginning God..." Genesis 1:1
We can worship together EVERY day.
but the day of rest: Shabbat
was NEVER changed by God.
Hundreds of references in our Bibles for Shabbat.
ALL on the seventh day of the week.
It was only by man's traditions,
seeking to "align" the people of truth with the people of pagan worship to forge them into a unity under the rule of Constantine.
Mixing truth with lies and doubt = deception and death (began Genesis 3)
This "official" change by a man was HUNDREDS of years [A.D. 321]
after Yeshua's victory over the power of sin and death.
And he shall speak words against the Most High [God]
and shall wear out the saints of the Most High
and think to change the time [of sacred feasts and holy days]
and the law. [Torah]
~ Daniel 7:25 AMP
ืื ืืื Dani'el HaNavi [Yahuah is my judge]
the vast majority of saints that I know ARE worn out... because they are simply disillusioned, have been deceived, are in darkness, have not yet learned the truth. (see John 8:31-32)
They preached with joyful urgency that life can be radically different...
~ Mark 6:12 MSG
"Don't think that I [Yeshua] have come to abolish
the Torah or the Prophets. [The "old" testament]
I have come not to abolish but to complete.
Yes indeed! I tell you that until heaven and earth pass away,
not so much as a yud or a stroke will pass from the Torah
-- not until everything that must happen has happened.
So whoever disobeys the least of these mitzvot
and teaches others to do so
will be called the least in the Kingdom of Heaven.
But whoever obeys them and so teaches
will be called great in the Kingdom of Heaven."
~ Matthew 5:17-19 CJB
There is a path before each person that seems right,
but it ends in death.
Proverbs 16:25 NLT
If you need wisdom, ask our generous God, and He will give it to you.
He will not rebuke you for asking.
~ James 1:5, NLT
the fourth mitzvah blessing/good deed Yahuah did FOR us:
"Remember the day, Shabbat, to set it apart for God.
You have six days to labor and do all your work,
but the seventh day is a Shabbat for [Yahuah] your God.
On it, you are not to do any kind of work
-not you, your son or your daughter,
My kids LOVE knowing that they have this day of rest to count upon every week,
and that we prepare for it, look forward to Shabbat rest.
Sometimes, I can even have all the finger foods ready, sandwhiches cut into quarters, etc., fresh fruits and veggies, cheeses cubed, or sliced... and we can just snack on foods all day. Maybe like the Garden of Eden, just ready-to-eat foods at our finger tips. No dishes from the day either.
Also I can give myself permission to NOT do projects or errands that I notice need to be done, that can wait until tomorrow.
Now that I'm thinking about it,
I'm thinking that after enjoying the blessing of Shabbat for a few months,
I'm not as likely to even notice "stuff that needs to be done"
If it's important enough, it'll still be waiting for me after Shabbat.
For Shabbat, I can be a "human BE-ing",
not a "human DO-ing"
not your male or female slave,
This includes people who would be employed by me, even temporarily, indirectly being paid by me for services rendered for me. So, I choose not to put out our mail on Shabbat, don't shop, don't go out or to retail establishments, movies, etc. I'm NOT responsible for what others choose to do with their Shabbat, but I am responsible for how I choose to relate to others on Shabbat.
not your livestock,
and not the foreigner staying with you inside the gates to your property.
For in six days,
[Yahuah] made heaven and earth, the sea and everything in them;
but on the seventh day He rested.
This is why [Yahuah] blessed the day, Shabbat, and separated it for Himself.
~ Exodus 20:8-11 CJB (see also Genesis 2:1-3)
It's not just that we keep Shabbat,
but that Shabbat keeps us.
โKeep the Sabbath day holy.
Donโt pursue your own interests on that day,
but enjoy the Sabbath
and speak of it with delight as the Lordโs holy day.
Honor the Sabbath in everything you do on that day,
and donโt follow your own desires or talk idly.
Then the Lord will be your delight.
I will give you great honor
and satisfy you with the inheritance I promised to your ancestor Jacob.
I, the Lord, have spoken!โ
~ Isaiah 58:13-14 NLT
Yesha'yahu [Yahuah is Salvation] ืืฉืขื
back to my object lesson from last weekend:
folding in the blueberries to the muffin mix:
these are VERY gently folded in (as our Shepherd brings us into His sheep fold)
"folding" is a very particular way to mix in delicate ingredients,
so that each one's wholeness and uniquenessis preserved
as it is added into the whole mixture,
and become a wonderful part of the whole muffin.
(we are many parts of one Body. (Echad, part of One God).
God created us each one of us unique,
to be in fellowship with Him and others believers,
and to be witnesses to those who aren't (yet?)
Shabbat ืฉืืช
Thank You, Yahuah, we are so grateful for Your gift FOR us:
giving us the 7th day of each week as a Day of Complete Rest !!
WHOOO-HOOOO!!
(Genesis 2:1-3; Ex 20:8-11, Isaiah 58:13-14, Matthew 5:17)
Shalom ืฉืืื
We praise You, Yahuah, because of the gift of Your Son we can be at peace with You,
no longer at war against You, Your Presence, truth, reality, life!! We are eternally grateful!!
(John 3:17; John 1:12-13, Romans 11:17, Galatians 5:22-23)
Yahuah blesses you and keeps you,
smiles on you and protects you
Looks you full in the face and gives you His shalom!
