Hello Everyone,

I just wanted to get things rolling as I have received my first assignment from for this discussion group.  Please introduce yourself on this post.  For at least the next 10 weeks, we will be chatting with each other about the book.  I have received the Web Event Schedule and will be providing a post to share it with you.

I am really excited and I know that the CAFEMOM group can be the biggest and most importantly the most engaged discussion group for this class.

Again, introduce yourself and I will be chatting with you soon.  The book is AWESOME!!

  • Hi my name is Tess and I am a SAHM to two little ones.

My life has been transforming a lot in the last 12 months.  A lot of it has to do with some WONDERFUL women who have entered my life and shared their amazing spirits with me.  (Three of them have already posted to this thread.) So I think this book is another chapter in my book of change.

Excited to get started on it with all of you.

  • Hello everyone! Like several of us have mentioned, my path also was one which began in Christianity but which took several turns over the past 15 years.  I became an atheist, a Unitarian Universalist and, most recently, someone who just considers herself to be "spiritual" but without formal religious affiliations.  I am about 1/2 way through the book and am blown away.  I read it many evenings after my 8 month old daughter falls alseep  and I invariably can only read about 5 pages at a time because each page seems so full of ideas to contemplate.
I just downloaded the workbook today and am excited for the class...  and for change!

  • Hello Ladies...

My name is Tonya and I am a stay at home mom to a now 7 month old daugher! Being a stay at home mom is wonderful but I just feel like I am not fulfilled with my life. I have been wondering what is my lifes purpose and what can I do to make it better. I need help and enlightenment. I am so excited about the class on "A New Earth" and have recently watched the DVD on " the Secret". I am trying to figure all this out and bring about a happier and healthier life for me and my family. Currently I am struggling but I am bound and determined to figure things out. Any ideas/suggestions are more than welcome. I COULD USE SOME FRIENDS WHO ARE BELIEVING IN THE SAME THINGS AS ME IN THIS POINT OF MY LIFE!

  • Hello! My name is Jennifer. I lost my son back on Dec. 27th to a mitochondrial disease that he developed at 3 months of age. Throughout his fight I always kept a positive view and cherish every single moment I had with him. Now I fight for those going through similar things any way I can. There are no cures and the only treatment options are vitamins.

Back in October I picked up Eat, Pray, Love and it resonated with me. In a few months my husband and I will be going to Europe to clear our heads and decide what is next in our lives. We are hoping they will be able to identify exactly what our son had so we can have more children, but most likely we will have to do IVF with anothers eggs and sperm or adopt. At this point in our lives we decided to take a year before making any decisions on anything including this.

I believe that reading A New Earth has been an excellent opportunity at a perfect point in my life since I am starting over completely. Also, I have a truely different way of looking at everything now and recognize how precious every little moment really is. I look forward to going through this journey with all of you!

  • Hello all,
my name is Tracy I was born and raised Wiccan and absolutely love this book.  So many passages that rang true for me.  The whole idea of finding the consciousness of things without naming them, when I was 11, I had a naming ceremony and that whole awakening to that moment reminds me of that.  And the waiting for moments where life gives you purpose, reminds me of the whole idea of spring that my mother taught us, spring is here when the crocuses awaken and the Robins greet them with song, even to this day I look for our first signs of spring, we have yellow and purple and white crocuses out already it must be here ) There are just so many  "AHAH" moments, so many "I get that" moments, "I can relate that I've experienced it this way" passages throughout the book.

This is the first online Oprah book club I actually joined and have been filling out the workbook along with joining the live podcast (though it got so congested mid way for me that now it won't show anymore, so I am going to download tonights version tomorrow and hopefully next week Monday will be better online!

  • Hi gals!

Ooh I'm excited and I don't even HAVE the book yet!

Just the conversation and the quality of women that are being drawn here is enough for me to know I'm in the right place at the right time.

Can't wait to read some more here and share the news of this group with my networking group :)

    Make it a great day!

  • Hi, My name is Joan and I'm just getting started in this group. I listened to the audio books of The Power of Now and A New Earth in the past year and loved them! I recently bought the paperback of A New Earth so I could re-read with underlining and notes.

I feel like I've found a whole forum of like-minded souls! I, too, started out in the Christian Church but the path of my adult life has led me to be a seeker. I've always been open to Eastern thought and (I'm probalby a little older than most of you) when the term "New Age" came into our consciousness, i felt I'd found something I was seeking all along. Reading books classes as New Age gave me a direction to go in.

I too saw the movie What the Bleep Do We Know? It was a real eye-opener and told me things I'd felt all along. Then came the Secret, of course. I've also devoured books by Wayne Dyer, Jerry and Ester Hicks' Abraham books, plus various others along the way.

I'm really looking forward to being part of the group!
