It is a sausage or pork dish make with steel cut oats.. it is a traditional dish made by German immigrants that settled in Northern Ky- Cincinnati Ohio area.. apparently it is huge thing in that area there is even a goetta festival every year.. I have lived in Central Ky all of my life and do have some German on my dad's side and have never ever heard of this dish until about a month ago when I was searching  for meat stretching meals.I am planning to make some today and I was wondering if anyone has ever tried it?

LOVE IT-lol! I live in the Cincinnati area and had a German Great Grandmother so that might be the reason why. We ate it at least once a week growing up, but I don't make it but a few times a year now. I personally like the Glier (sp?) brand over homemade.

Forgot to add, It's really good with toast and jelly, with ketchup on top or maple syrup. I also like it with fried eggs. Guess I'm going to have to add it to my shopping list because I really want some now!

It was a big hit not even a bite left..even with our picky eaters.. this is definitely  going to be a regular meal here.

Do you have the recipe? I would love to try making some instead of buying it.
