She just started to 'watch' television now at 14 months.  She's been around horror since the womb.  I don't know what movie will be her first but she'll be watching them young, just like daddy.

My daughter is three and my husband and I are fairly strict when it comes to television and movies. The scariest thing we've ever watched with her was probably Scooby Doo, lol. If she has an interest in horror movies later on we've talked about introducing them when she's twelve or thirteen, beginning with some of the milder ones, and see how it goes. One of the reasons we decided to wait was because I have memories of watching movies like The Texas Chainsaw Massacre and Nightmare On Elm Street when I was very young and I had horrible nightmares. She might not have the same problem but I'd rather just play it safe. I always loved the movies despite my nightmares, lol. Kids are funny.

I have let my daughter watch horror movies from the start and will do the same with my son when he is born in a few months. I guess I see it as letting them know from the very start that "yes there are bad things out there that can hurt you" but I make sure she understands that they are just movies. As of yet we haven't had any problems from nightmares due to the movies. I don't know...... I grew up on them from birth too and I never seemed to be really bothered. I mean I had a few nightmares as a kid, but I think they all do. I say to each her own and if it starts to pose a problem for you stop letting them see it until they are older and better able to understand that it's not real. Heck my nephew's favorite movies are the horror. He asks for them by name practically and he's only 3. Just yesterday he asked his mom if he could watch "chainsaw" again (meaning Texas Chainsaw Massacre). I guess it just all depends on how you handle it with them.
