The Lord says :
Don't brag about your wisdom
Or strength or wealth
If you feel you must brag ,
Than have enough sense
To brag about worshiping me
What I like best is showing kindness
Justice and mercy
To everyone on everyone on earth
Jeremiah 9. 23 - 24
Human beings can only consider themselves something when, and only when, they know the Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.
But for that to occur we have to be humble, or be humbled.
Knowledge of the Lord is the one thing that justifies any human glory.
Everything else is ordinary and will disappear with time.
It is unwise to follow the path of pride, self-absorption and arrogance, because it turns into the path of bitterness.
Our human nature make learning this lesson an enormous challenge. Still, each one of us has to learn this on our own.
The only way for people to come to grips with their own insignificance, is by going through hard times…
Whether in our love lives, poor health, family or finances.
In these moments, all people quickly reach the rock bottom of humiliation and shame.
As a result, the only alternative is humble surrender.
Contrary to popular belief, God is not responsible for our misfortunes.
We reap the fruit of what we sow. Today we are reaping what we sowed
yesterday, and tomorrow we will reap what we are sowing today.
We create our own misfortunes.
It is true that He allows us to reach rock bottom, individual rock bottoms.
God’s Divine compassion allows our nature to teach us humility, since pride caused us to close our ears to His Word.
The humiliation that suffering brings leads our souls to humility, and consequently, honor. That is when we turn to the Creator.
A happy man that had learned this lesson recognized suffering as the gateway to salvation, and confessed:
“It is good for me that I have been afflicted, that I may learn Your statutes.”Psalm 119.71
