When Josephâs brothers realized that their father was now dead, they said, âWhat if Joseph bears a grudge against us, and wants to pay us back seriously for all of the terrible things we did to him?â 16 So they approached[a] Joseph and said, âYour father gave orders before he died, telling us, 17 âThis is what you should say to Joseph. âPlease, forgive your brothersâ sins and misdeeds, for they did terrible things to you. Now, please forgive the sins of the servants of your fatherâs God.âââ Joseph wept when they spoke to him.
18 His brothers wept[b] too, fell down in front of him, and said, âWeâre here as your slaves.â
19 But Joseph said to them, âDonât be afraid. Am I God? 20 You
planned something bad for me, but God produced something good from it,
in order to save the lives of many people, just as heâs doing today. 21 Now, donât be afraid. I will take care of you and your children.â So he put them at ease and spoke reassuringly to them.
Genesis 50. 15 - 20
The Christian life is to be characterized by growth , which becomes evident as a believer progresses from spiritual milk to solid food . Once we absorb the elementary truths of our faith , we should then began to chew on more meaty ones. The question of whether God is in every circumstance falls into this latter category because the answer conflicts with human thinking . You see God is in the tragedies as well as the triumphs of life ; he either sends or permit's them to happen.
When we ponder the deeper teachings of scriptures it's important to start with the Lord's character and promises . For example in meditating on the fact that he does allow some extremely hard times , it is critical that we remember
God is good
The Lord is good to everyone and everything;
Godâs compassion extends, to all his handiwork!â
God is sovereign
The Lord has established his throne in heaven,
and his kingdom rules over all.
God promise believers that he will work all things together for their good.
God keeps his promise
All of Godâs promises have their yes in him. That is why we say Amen through him to the glory of God.
2 Corinthians 1.20
These facts form a framework that can help us as we seek to understand the Lord's presence in every situation.
Consider Joseph brothers, falsely accursed by his employer's wife and imprisoned unjustly . This man was powerless and in many ways forgotten. But Joseph refused to be swayed by circumstances --- he grasped the deeper truth that God had orchestrated it for all good.
Whether the Lord sends a trail or permints one to occur . He has send he will use it as part of his plan for good our good. Do you believe him.
