We took my son skating 2 weeks ago at 14 months old. They say once they are stable on their feet. He had those wide double blades and really seemed to like it, but he doesn't quite get the sliding on the ice- he is trying to lift his feet and walk.

Xavier just started ice skating this year at 3 1/2. He's doing great though. We're keeping him in double blades for the rest of this winter and trying to change him over to single blades this summer (the rink near us is open year round). Hockey will be next year on the ice (he loves street hockey).
