I go on Craigslist all the time and there are people selling used car seats on there. Now don't get me wrong, if you can't afford to buy a new one, a good used one is just as good. But there are things  you need to watch for when buying ANY car seat, whether infant, toddler, or booster seat.
(I just took a class at our local community center on car seat saftey and some of this stuff I didn't know.)

4 Things to know/ask  when buying a used car seat

1. Car seats EXPIRE! Check the experation date on the back of the seat!

2. Has it been in an accident? NO CAR SEAT IS GOOD AFTER AN ACCIDENT!

3. Have the car seat straps been machine washed? If they have, DON'T BUY IT! Or if you do, get replacment straps, washing the straps in a washer will loosen the material and weaken the straps and they could snap in an accident!

4. Has it been recalled? You can call your local fire department and give them the number on the back of the car seat and they can run a recall check for you.

(and don't forget, rear facing till 20lbs AND 1 year old, and the longer the better!)


PLEASE, PLEASE KEEP YOUR CHILDREN IN MIND WHEN BUYING A USED CAR SEAT AND CHECK THESE THINGS!
