Dear Editor,
I am voting for Ron Paul for president. Not because he’s the first woman or Afro-American or preacherman to have a viable shot at the white house. (He is not) Not because he’s republican. (He is) Not because he’s pro-gun. (He is) Not because he wants to bring all our troops home from Iraq, yes, but also the UK, Germany, Japan,….(He does) Not because he’s Christian. (He is) Not because he’s promising to make a job for me or take care of me in anyway. (He is not)
I am voting for Ron Paul for president because he abides by the Constitution of the United States of America.
Ron Paul is promising to do all a president can do to restore the federal government to its Constitutional boundaries.
I beg you; don’t believe me. Reread the Constitution, and then read Ron Paul’s record.
Sincerely,
Leanna Dunmyer Clark

Dear Editor,
We have a big mess in our federal government: the office of the president has too much power, we are borrowing too much money, we are micro managing our own citizens' lives, spying on ourselves, etc. etc. etc.
We could blame our public servants down the line for not adhering to our Constitution, and justly so. We could blame ourselves for not training and managing them well enough and justly so.
But blaming will not fix the problem. Restoring the federal government to its rightful parameters according to the Constitution of the United States of America will fix the problem.
How do we do that? The first step is to choose a public servant for president who will help us. Ron Paul, I believe, is that public servant.
Please don’t take my word for it. First, reread the Constitution and then read Ron Paul’s voting record.
Sincerely,
Leanna Dunmyer Clark

I'll have to send something to the Buffalo News.
They don't cover Ron Paul at all! I don't read the paper that much, but I did a search a few days ago and very little about Ron Paul! Just mentions here & there, and one reader letter a couple days ago (yay!) mentioning how Kucinich & Paul were unfairly excluded from debates. A recent article (1/11) post-debate about the various GOP candidates' stances on taxes/spending - which did have a good quote:
"Of the six presidential rivals on the debate stage, Texas Rep. Ron Paul was the only one who said, 'I believe we are in a recession. I believe it’s going to get a lot worse.' ”
While of course they mentioned the other candidates more often & earlier on.
I noticed another article re Hillary supporters traveling hours to go door-to-door trying to get the "undecideds" to support Hillary - even a local Congressman went with them. And it seems they had some luck with that... :-(
The article did note that a contingent of Ron Paul supporters were on the way -- so let's hope we see some media exposure!!

Feel free to copy and use!
With the Alsaka Primary coming up, I would like the chance to education the public on my candidate.
He has never voted for an unbalanced budget.
He has never voted for a federal restriction on gun ownership.
He has never voted to raise congressional pay.
He has never taken a government-paid junket.
He has never voted to increase the power of the executive branch.
He voted against regulating the Internet.
He voted against the Iraq war.
He returns a portion of his annual congressional office budget to the U.S. treasury every year.
Please don’t take my word for it. Research the candidates, please don't vote based on Religion, Race, or Gender.

I submitted it 2/4/08 & rec'd a response that it was forwarded to the appropriate dept. They did not print it. (surprised?)
It's short bc there is a 200-word limit. I considered the paper's more liberal perspective in choosing what to focus on.

I am surprised by your endorsement of McCain, a vehemently pro-war candidate.
McCain has supported the Iraq War without fail, arguing we should stay
there another "100 years" if needed. He also supports invading Iran.
McCain supports overbearing Federal government, including violations
of civil rights under the Patriot Act. And he also supports violating
the rights of Americans by approving internet regulation.
Contrast McCain's positions with that of Ron Paul:
Ron Paul wants to end the Iraq War NOW. Maybe that's why he receives
more military contributions than any other candidate.
Ron Paul voted against the Patriot Act, and he opposes legislation
allowing the Federal government to violate our civil rights.
Ron Paul wants to bring our troops home from all over the world and
return to a non-interventionist foreign policy, saving American
taxpayers $1 TRILLION that could be spent at home.
Additionally, Ron Paul has always fought against unjust tax increases,
and has fought to increase funding for, and improvement of, veterans'
benefits. He has also fought to protect the Social Security fund from
being looted.
These are some of the reasons Ron Paul's support is increasing
greatly, and why he is the right choice for president.
