To write is to free your soul and witness its graceful flight toward the heavens . . . .

In my life, words have taken me by the hand and led me through the darkest moments; they have frolicked with me in the light of joy and captured my tears when sorrow came to call. The benefits of creative writing for our minds and our hearts and our souls are as boundless and limitless as words themselves.

The harvest of self is bountiful when the mind is allowed to explore creativity. Creative writing is the ultimate expression of self. Freedom from the everyday is found when our words begin to flow. When we allow ourselves to simply go wherever words may take us we open our minds, our hearts and our souls. I've found when my day has been long and my frustrations have been many I can pick up a pen and serenity finds me.

As my pen softly touches the page, my spirit is freed from all earthly weight. Floating with reckless abandon, feeling no fear, no angst and no pain as the ink slowly seeps into the fibers of the page. My heart is light and my worries fade before the liquid dries.  There is magic taking place. The thoughts I think are permanent etchings for all to read before I even realize they have made their way to a page. My fingers dance with my quill of choice, gliding atop each page like lovers in a dream.

Through creative writing we can learn to understand and find self acceptance. Emotional barriers are broken, walls of confusion come tumbling down, we can manage and work through both pain and sorrow with the power written word.  Some may think it odd but sometimes even the silliest little sonnet can bring about the greatest of epiphanies. Creative writing can be a welcome cure for dreaded writers block as well. You may surprise yourself with your own wit and wisdom.

A writer must write, sometimes we get caught up with assignments or deadlines and simply need to write for the sake of writing, we need to write to fill our own need. Writing is often said to be a healing art, I think this applies to creative writing in the truest sense.  I've worked through many memories, heartaches and hurts by writing. I've also captured wonderful memories and images I never wish to forget with words, my heart and my mind feels at rest when I write, especially when creativity is my guide.

We find strength when we let our guard down and allow creativity to flow. We open ourselves up to another realm of possibility, another way to find we are searching for and another way of finding what we need. Our imaginative mind is set free and we can allow ourselves to see beyond the realities we sometimes feel imprisoned in. We learn about ourselves as we explore the depths of who we truly are. Sometimes we solve problems we didn't think could be solved and find answers we didn't think could be found.

So many words to pen, calming tranquility welcomes relief as my pen paints pictures and perceptions of spoken silence. Liquid waltz of flowing ink, impermeable purity, transforming nothing into everything, transcending reality in written form.

I was once asked why I wrote poetry and meandering musings some might find meaningless. I quickly said I wrote them because it was cheaper than therapy. I believe wholeheartedly that writing truly is the greatest therapy there is for me aside from prayer.

In my life, words have taken me by the hand and led me through the darkest moments; they have frolicked with me in the light of joy and captured my tears when sorrow came to call. The benefits of creative writing for our minds and our hearts and our souls are as boundless and limitless as words themselves.

To write is to free your soul and witness its graceful flight toward the heavens . . . .

To write is to pour a little part of you onto the page and share it with others......
