Thanksgiving A La Grinch
                                                       By: Judy M. Joyce

Ba humbug I say to the Thanksgiving feast
A holiday I care for not in the least
I'm thankful each day, so why mark this day
To partake in a glutonous lavish display.

There must be a more gracious way than to eat
Until our bellies fall down to our feet.
Perhaps mark our thankfulness by planting a tree
Or hugging your neighbor you too rarely see.

Name a star for each joy that exists in your life.
Bless the day you found your husband or wife.
Write a song or a poem to list all your blessings
Exclude the ones about turkey and dressings.

I just don't understand the excitement or glee
Of making candied yams or cherries jubilee
The hours rising bread or stuffing the bird.
Could be more wisely spent in unique ways unheard.

Connecting with those you love and hold dear
Should happen each minute, not merely by year.
Gain a full heart, from the waist lose an inch
Happy Eating Day to all ...from the Thanksgiving Grinch!

That was cute and well said although I love having a special day to cook special foods I can't eat all year round.
