I'm so glad to see you here! I was hoping I wouldn't be the only one!

In the serenity of sweet silence my muse beckons me to dance, to free myself from the bondage of thought and soar above the madness that ties me to this plane of existence. To revel in the release of my spirit and travel to that place where words have meaning and voice and all makes sense. To give the breath of life to my every thought, my every dream, my every desire and let them surround me in the peace that they bring. To fly without fear, with words as my wings, to simply be free . . .

I believe that everyone has something within them that can be spilled out upon a page. Someone once said to me "But I can't write." I say, if you can form thought you can write. It may not be a flowing verse and it may not make sense to anyone but the one who wrote it, but it was written.

You don't need to fill a page with big words or profound epiphanies, you simply need to write what is in your heart. Poetry doesn't have to rhyme, in fact, I think it's better if it doesn't  :o) But that's another post.

I am not the best writer in the world and I am not the worst. I want this group to be a place you can feel free to share your innermost self without  fear.

If you want to learn and grow in your writing I hope this will be a place where you can find the guidance you need. If you want your work critiqued, those who have the knowledge to do so are encouraged to jump in there and share what you know.

I want everyone to remember the old rule 'If you can't say anything nice, don't say anything at all!" when you are reading and responding to a post.

When I worked on the Chicken Soup boards as a NOVL I felt like I was a part of something magical. I was able to give advice and be advised. Wouldn't it be nice if we could create a magical place of our own?

Well, here's to a new beginnings! Now WRITE!

Share your mugshot with us as well, it's nice to see the person behind the words  :o)

  • Hi!  My name is Theresa.  I love to write.  I used to write poems and short stories all of the time.  I couldn't help it.  They just seemed to come out of me.  But in the last few years, I have mostly written songs and occassionally I would teach classes or seminars and would write those.   I feel like I will eventually write a book.  I am not sure when that will be, but I have quite a few ideas that have been stewing around for a while.  I would also like to start writing poetry again.  I love writing it and I miss it a lot.  I can't wait to read what you all have to say as well.  I am glad to be a part of this group!

  • Hello:

I am a new member of Whispered Words and the creator of the New cafemom group - Poetic Voices (a very, very new group).

I have been reading and writing since a very young age and I am still growing. I am also an English Literature teacher. I have taught grades 6-12 and some college English.

I have poems and journals all over my house with my writings, poems, and musings, on paper, diskettes, etc. I've had small publications in college, attended and shared poetry at live sessions in bookstores and shared with family and friends - but this will be a new experience for me.

I guess I'll check the "forums/announcements" for assignments, etc. I hope to see posts from more of you soon and more of your poetry...

  • Hello all!  I used to be a correspondent for Gannett Publications and writer of many articals for publication in a bunch of different magazines and newsletters.  I stopped for a long time, but I am bitten again by the writing bug and would like to emerge from this non-literary cocoon to become a published novelist.  I am glad to meet all of you and read your stories!  It should be an impressive journey!

  • Hi,  this all started for me when I was in high school. I had a English teacher that I adored. She was the one that started me into poetry.  I started just writing. I wrote all the time. I had a biology notebook that was bigger than any the school had seen.  Then I fell in love. I got married  and when I would write, I got yelled at for waisting timeand money. He distroyed my self esteem, and when the urge to end my life, became greater than my urge to live, I knew it was time to get out of the marriage. We had two beautiful daughters who believed everything that their father had said.  I had a friend that sat and talked to me for hours. He had been friends with all of us. I started writing again, but it was to figure out what had happened that put me in this terrible spot. Once  I picked up the pen and paper, the words started flowing, and I couldn't stop.  I fell inlove with my friend, and the writing continues. It has gotten so bad that I bought a notebook so that I am never without a computer that I can put words into. I love to write, and if given an event, you'll find me at the computer. Most of the time I'm writting poetry. I am posting the poem that my daughter (the teacher) likes the best. I hope ya'll like it.

Listen people, near and far,                                                     for in my heart there is a scar.                                          My heart  was broken one Tuesday morning,                           As four planes  put our world in mourning.                               All the people who were there,                                                When our country was attacked by air.                                   That's the day our lives were changed,                                    and all our dreams were rearranged.                                       We can no longer live in dreams,                                                But we must not forget the screams.                                        For everyone who died that day,                                               Had family and friends that cried and prayed.                        We must honor thoes we lost that day                                      So that the terrorest won't have their way.                             We live and breath, and also grieve,                                         Because of them and their belief                                               Always remember, the eleventh of September
