When my first one went to college I cried for 6 weeks, mind you he was only 45 min/1 hr away. Now my twins are in college, not such a shock to the household! Hang in there....gotta believe you taught your child well to function in the world w/o you. It's hard, I know, you miss them, but they'll be back!

Give him a call every now and then to see how he is doing, and remind him you are still there. Although, trust me, they remember fast enough when they need something!

Keep yourself busy.

Do something special for yourself.

Relish the quiet! It will be gone, and your child home again in a few months.

It does get easier.

I know this is an old post.. but I am having the same issue. I have two biological kids and two stepkids who live with us, and both my DD20 and DS18 are now away at college. I feel so strange. I miss them. Especially with my DS, I constantly wonder how he is doing.
