November 2008 Babies!
I am looking into cord blood banking for this pregnancy. My question is; has anyone done this, and if so- through whom? I am looking into CBR and viacord. CBR seems to be better known, but the other one seems to have done a lot more with medical research of diseases and also says they have the only FDA approved process and are the only company that can still bank it if something goes wrong and I have to have a c-section. Anyone have any experience with this??!! Thanks so much!

by mama_jem on Aug. 27, 2008 at 10:49 AMI've looked into it as well but it's just WAY to expensive. Instead I am going to ask my doctor if I can donate it. If you donate it it gets used in stem cell research or goes to a child in need of stem cells. |

by guccichic on Aug. 28, 2008 at 10:01 PMI banked my sons with Viacord for so many of the reason that you said. Viacord is a very well know company, and the research that they do is amazing. I try to spread the word about cord blood banking because I truly believe that everyone should at least know that this is available for you. When I was looking into them I looked carefully to both Viacord and CBR. I had an emergency c-section and they were able to bank the cells. They are also able to wait for the cord to stop pulsating I know that is a big thing know with alot of moms. It was nice The medical courier came picked up the cord blood while I was in recover, the next day Viacord called me to just let me know that they had our unit and to Congratulate us. Good Luck As I said I used Viacord Jennie is the girl that signed me up she was amazing and so nice. You can email her if you want at jfitzpatrick@viacord.com this was her direct number 617-914-3672 or you can call there 1888-758-5115 mention my #303 and they will give you a discount.
I hope this helps |

by hanzrabidelf on Sep. 3, 2008 at 11:40 AMI can not afford to but I will be donating it. My mom just had a stem-cell transplant in march and is still recovering. I hope to be able to help some body else out. *~*Angela*~* |
