Yesterday and today I picked and juiced enough lemons to make about 12 pints of juice. Looks like we'll be having lemonade until New Years! (Still have lemons on the tree, too).
Whacked back the tomato vines-- hoping this will encourage them to put out new growth, bloom and produce a few tomatoes (it's been too hot for them the past month or so). And, hopefully, we'll get a few of those tomatoes before the rats do.
Found we had a stalk of bananas-- hiding in amongst the dead fronds hubby trimmed off. Only 9 bananas, but still a nice surprize.
Filled a 12" flowerpot with peppers-- not sure what kind. They look like small jalapenos, but most of them are not spicy (a few have been). I was going to try pickling them, but hubby and #2 son have eaten about 1/3 of them already.
Apples are starting to ripen-- so far, the only ripe ones have had bugs in the core, but the flesh was fine. Pomegranates are coloring up-- a couple are fully red, but still tightly attached to their branches, so I figure they're still unripe.
Have picked all but one spaghetti squash-- it is still green, but is about twice the size of the others I already picked.
Hubby sent a bunch of yard/garden trimmings through the chipper today-- also the lemon peels from the juicing project. Smelled really good out there! Last weekend he sifted out a lot of compost, and I've started spreading it around the fruit trees and such. After today's chipping, his compost pile is built back up to what it was before he sifted it.
