Cheap but Nice Furniture

I do not have a couch or anything to sit on in my living room. My father and stepmother will be coming out for Christmas and until now not having a couch wasn't a big deal. I don't know where I can find something affordable. Even if it isn't the nicest couch I could get a slip cover. I have tried Craigslist but am at a loss. Any ideas? I need something for everyone to sit on! Thx

I'd check out your local consignment stores...also look for local stagers who may need to get rid of some props.

If you have a Big Lots near you, you should look there.  They actually have some decent furniture that is very reasonably priced.  Good Luck :o)

Craigslist probably.  Or maybe go with a futon for awhile, those can sometimes be had cheaper than a regular sofa.  Like the pp said too, Big Lots is another good place for cheap furniture.  Or other variety stores, like here in the PNW we have Fred Meyer and they have a couple different inexpensive sofas and chairs.

Maybe even try a major furniture outlet - they usually have a scratch and dent section in the back.

If you are not needing the furniture as something permanent, why not rent a couch for the weekend..I don't know how they operate but I have seen them advertise alot in our area. I am thinking that they even deliver and pick-up, but I am not sure on that. It may be a cheaper route for you to go and have a really nice couch for everyone to sit on...just a thought.

Some thrift stores get seconds from major furniture stores. I got a beautiful dining table for $50 and a sleeper sofa for $75. The table didn't come with chairs, but it actually matches our dining chairs perfectly!

I got my couch from Big Lots. We wanted something that looks nice but didn't want to pay a fortune becasue when my daughter gets it messy....I don't want to PANIC. We have a rather large, very cozy/comfy couch. We got it for about $200.

Try posting WANTED email on your local Freecycle network, or check out Cort Furniture - they mainly rent it, but they also sell previously rented furniture for cheap.

Good luck!
