I am trying to do something different in my kitchen. I wanted to paint a wall red and then the other 2 brown. However, that seems plain. MY house is a open floor plan and the majority of the area is brown with 2 yellow accent wall and one orange. What other decorative things have you put into the kitchen. Should I stick with a food theme or just play with it a little bit? What does your kitchen look like?

Mine doesn't have a theme. I do have an accent wall in the kitchen.

personally I would love to do a coffee theme in my kitchen and may get to it one day. Our house is quite open too so you do kind of have to do things that mesh with the next room in the house.

mine is vintage fabrics, fruits and veggies, gardens, family togetherness, kind of a homestead feel...its not as decorated as Id like but I have those awesome cheapo multicolored rag rugs, framed vintage fabrics, cows, roosters n chickens, fake fruits n veggies, I want some old dishes too....I have my cast iron skillet but some pyrex bowls and some mismached old dishes and crocks and red handled utensils would fit perfectly too.....
its a flea market find theme lol

The wall above my sink was just a blank wall and my antique china collection was overflowing my china hutch.  I have plates above all the kitchen cabinets and over the refrigerator.  I like a Victorian look but will use retro if I have to.

For the past 5-7 years my kitchen was apples, apples, and more apples. I'm trying to do a simple sprucing now, changing cabinets knobs, taking down apples stuff,I want to put splashes of yellow in kitchen now. Only thing,I have a red deep fryer, red pots, etc,I can't afford to get rid of all my red stuff. Any ideas ?

You could do sunflowers or bees or anything really with some yellow and black with red as an accent colour.

My kicthen is grapevines(not vineyard...no bottles of wine here) and my walls are a grape color(purple) and my cabinets(which take up the majority of space are off white, and I have all white appliances. I have grape vine rub-ons on all my cabinets. Grape vine pulls and handles.

I do have some nick nacks on one wall; I have a kitchenette, and i have high ceilings, on the tops of the cabinets, i have placed different vases with colorful faux plants and fake flowers made of fabric, it gives the space some color and a definite focal point because it draws the eye upward in that small space. I am planning to get my chairs replaced with some pretty wooden high stools for my island which i plan to cover with some bright colored seat cushions when i find the right ones. i do love your idea of the red walls, really get into looking at different reds to see which one is best for u if u decide on red for your kitchen. There are so many reds. Red and Green are direct complimentery Colors to each other on the color wheel for a good match in color coordination.

I painted my whole kitchen yellow, but that is the only yellow thing in it (besides the yellowish color of the cabinets), everything else is an antique gold, white, green, black and deep red and (to me) it actually goes very well together, if you do too much yellow and not accents of other color, it will make you sick to look at it.

Pick one thing in your kitchen that is your favorite decoration, and just work around it, if you want to keep some of your apples you can, but you can add other things too, it doesn't have to be just plain apples... like I have a John Deere tractor cookie jar that I wanted to keep (I love John Deere decorations), but I didn't want to do my whole kitchen in a tractor theme, so I did Roosters and a deep red color and everything flows so well my tractor got to stay :)
