I'll post more pics tomorrow so I can kinda give a full view...lol
An easy update is to change the handles. Can't tell what the countertops are made off.
Buy a potted lemon tree to make the room look fresher and give you naturally clean air.
maybe do a color scheme along the lines of green, grey, yellow and bright white.
assuming your counter is as green as it looks lol
Yours looks like mine did BEFORE I painted my cabinets antique white. I wish I would have done it sooner! It was quite a job and it's hard to keep clean, but I am so glad the oak is gone! I also had wood floors and it was just too much wood. Mine were also that orangey oak and I just couldnt look at it one more day!
What I DID do that looks gorgeous with oak or any wood for that matter is paint the walls LOGGIA by Sherwin Williams in my bathroom...it is such a pretty sage-olive color and makes me so happy to see it that I may just start painting all the other walls the very same color!
BTW I actually like your kitchen as is...If you spray painted the handles or changed them out to a oil rubbed bronze, that would freshen it up too!

Paint them white (to brighten up a dark room) and change out the handles, get some appliance spray and spray your appliances stainless steal colored. Maybe do a tiny glass tile backsplash....make sure you do that area where that outlet is over the dishwasher.
