How do you know your style? I'm going crazy trying to figure out how to decorate and I'm having the hardest time finding a style that I LOVE. First I thought it was western. I really like wood and metal decor, but I'm not into horses and guns. Then, I thought southwest. I love the reds and oranges, but not the native american rug patterns or the pottery. Next, I was thinking coastal. My favorite place in the whole world is the beach. I like the cool blue and yellow, but I don't want seashells and sailboats all over my house. I do like antiques and unique old pieces that are conversation starters. I want to include pics of my family and my kids. I also really like the paintings that divided into are 3-5 five different pieces, but are hung next to each other to make 1 picture if that makes since. I just need inspiration. I think that I'm a minimalist in that I can't stand clutter on tables/walls/anywhere. Anyway, where do you look to get ideas? How did you decide?
I pick up lots of ideas that I've seen online and in magazines...just as inspiration and go from there. It may be a color scheme or a layout or the style...
But the best rule is to decorate your home with what you like and what works for your family and pocketbook! I would hate to live in a home that wasn't "ME"...and "ME" is different for everyone!
