Hi!  I'm a newcomer here and a new sthm.  I'm looking for ideas on how to design my 7 year old son's room with the Lego theme.  He is SO passionate about building legos and wants very badly to have a room to reflect that but I have no idea where to start.  PLEASE help!!  Thanks!

Let me see if I can explain this in a way that makes since outside of my head, lol.

I would go with the basic lego color scheme, doing a plain color comforter, curtains, paint, etc.  Then make "legos" out of construction paper.  Just make a pattern with a piece of cardboard that looks like the side of a lego and trace and cut out several in different colors.  Stack them, scatter them, whatever you like the look of, on one or two walls.  Glue sticks work well for sticking the paper to the wall, and it peels back off fairly easily after it's dry.  You could even laminate them of cover them in clear shelf liner.  Or take pictures of some of his favorite creations, blow them up and frame them for the walls.  I hope you get some more ideas on here.  My little brother and son both love legos as well.  :)  We have container after container.  A lego theme is a great idea at this age.

I have a couple of crazy ideas but they might work...

get a bed that has a flat side or flat with wood... Then glue all around the bed sides legs everything... legos this way the bed will look like its made out of legos...

another idea... get a long piece of thin wood i think its called mdf...  sand it and paint it... and your son can use that to build his masterpieces on and leave on display

for shelves.. get another piece of wood  take the tube of the toilet paper cut it and attach it to the bottom of the shelf to make a lego... dont forget the paint...

hope this helps!

Great theme!

Search for pics of Legoland--you can get some great ideas or even print images for art.

Similar to the bed idea from pp:  glue a Lego facade onto plain shelves--like crown molding out of Legos--to display his latest creations.

You must have a Lego table!  Add legs to a plywood top, buy small plastic bins, and cut out holes that will support the bins when dropped in.  Paint or varnish.  Glue a large Lego mat in the center (or 4 sm. mats together).  Buy the chair you want to use first to determine table height, or make it really low so he can work on the floor.

Remember the 1-per-box clear Legos from when you were a kid?  Maybe you could make a lampshade from clear plastic shaped like a box if you could find clear rounds to put on top--or just a clear lamp (check IKEA) that would be a nod to the elusive Clear Lego :)

Build his name out of Legos--mount on a plaque or straight on the wall.

Paint a border of chair rail-height Legos around the room--like Lego wainscotting!

If you could stand the brightness, you could paint a pale yellow or blue base then block different sizes of squares and rectangles in primary colors all around the room.

When my son was little his room was Lego's.

I used brite primary colors, to match the blocks

his tables/nightstands were topped with a large base sheet (Lego ground)

furniture was minimum but the center piece of the room was a Lego play table, painted in the same primary colors.

somewhere I actually found a blanket for his bed that had lego people on it.

we used footlockers as Lego storage (which we still have) and seating

Had a couple posters of fantastic Lego creations on the walls.

This was from the HGTV website. I'm sure it would be really expensive to do the whole room like this but you could possibly do one wall. I thought it was pretty neat!

btw I love the theme!

This is a pretty cool wall!

Also I have seen lego furniture on craig's list before I think a toy box and a book shelf. Couldn't find any pictures but it would be intersting!

I know this is an older post, but if you go to www.lego.com they have a section where you can download pictures and print them out.  You could print a couple out and frame them and use them as decorations.  Also don't know if your son is a member of the Brickmaster club.  If not, you get a new magazine every 2 months and the center is usually a fold out poster that you could use to decorate with.
