Before we recylce old magazines, wrapping paper, etc. we cut out fun pictures and patterns and use them to decorate blank cards, which get sent out as birthday, wedding, etc. cards. I haven't bought a card in a long time, and people appreciate that it was handmade. Oh! and my blank cards are reused, too, since they were for my wedding that was called off! I'm so glad that minor tragedy is at least being reworked into something that makes people happy!

I save all my jars for storage. Pasta, pickle, baby food.
My mom always washed the styrofoam trays meats come in (and sometimes fruits and veggies) for us to use as paint pallets. |

There is only one grocery store in our community, and they give a free fabric grocery bag for every $75 spent. Since it is our only option for shopping, it is great to see so many people reusing our bags, and everytime we use it, we get 5 cents off each bag. Figure how many bags that is in a year, and it can make a small difference!
I re-use takeout or bakery containers for school cookies, bake sale goodies, and sport event treats. We compost, and recycle, and just bought a front loader washer, which uses 77% less water, and 30% less power. Yea! If everyone does their part, and drives less, we can make a difference... island walker

Alright, I was thinking about this as I was getting rid of some boxes (like cereal and other type things) You can use them for gift giving, yes it sounds cheap but why buy a box when I can reuse ones I already have. My DH and I did this last christmas-I also reuse gift bags to no end.
I reuse paper at work (if the back is clean, it's good enough) I reused my formula cans for oodles of things (especially in my classroom) -clothes definately -bags from teh grocery store for garbage and such -food waste-have a compost pile at school and home That's all my brain can get out right now, I am sure I use a bunch more, just can't think right now! |

Save food containers with lids to store leftovers!
Use the plastic mesh bag that potatoes & onions come in by rolling into a ball & tie to use as a scrubber for dishes & cleaning! Re-use old clothes~make into bags for shopping, make into rags for cleaning, make into a mop head by shreading and use a rubberband to tie together and attach to mop head! Another poster mentioned using boxes as gift boxes! i did this at Xmas too! i used cereal boxes, cut and remade into jewelry boxes! cute & worked good! We also re-used & decorated coffee cans as cookie cans! Use your newspaper to clean windows & mirrors w/o streaks! |

The containers that baby wipes come in, I reuse to decorate, and make planters out of. I take the lid of the diaper wipe container and put it on the bottom to catch the water. At the bottom of the planter, I put small holes to help the water drain. Then, i feel my planter with soil and plant some little plants. I also use them for storage of cards and crayons

I reuse ziplock bags, wash them in warm water then air dry. I use freecycle to get rid of things we no longer need and use it to pick up items. I got my clothes dryer rack from it. :o) I also shop at second hand stores before I buy brand new. We got all the furniture for DD's room for $180( includes her convertible bed).

I like to buy toys and clothes at the resale store or ebay. A lot of times it looks brand new.
