OK I just want to make sure I am doing this right ,so far I have applied for fasfa and received back my SAR it said that I qualify for 5,550 in a fasfa grant and 9,000 in a loan.I have applied to San  Jacinto  College  in Pasadena ,TX  and have  been accepted to go to school there. I have called my high school and they are sending a transcript to the College. Will I be getting something back from financialaid  office and if so about how long does it take to get something back from them. Just want to make sure I am doing all of this right I am hoping to start college in May for the summer sessions.

They should send you additional forms to fill out for your FA.  Once you submit those, they will package your aid and send you an award letter letting you know how much you will receive.  You should call the FA department and find out what else, if anything, you need to fill out for your funding.

definitely contact the financial aid office at your college.

the way mine works is that everything is awarded at the start of the semester, so that would be aug/sept time. you don't have to accept all the loans, since loans you have to pay back. i only accept the grants to pay for tuition & fees, which depending on the rules of the grant is calculated to use the least amount (for example if your tuition is $2,000 but you are offered $4,000 in a grant that only covers tuition then you will not get anything refunded from the school. if you have a grant that covers housing as well as tuition then you can get that refunded, & any loan amount not needed for school fees will be refunded at a certain point, 2-3 weeks into the semester usually)
