I went to see my ob/gyn today and we discussed birth control. He told me about Implanon. I'm thinking about doing it but Im not sure about side effects. I hear alot of negative stuff about norplant and am worried that they are the same. Please tell me if you would or would not recommend I get Implanon and why.

Well, personally, I prefer Mirena than Implanon. I've had Implanon in for a year and have gained about 20 lbs or so (which really sux bcuz I was down to my pre-pregnancy weight b4 I had it put in and now....*sigh*). Also, I have a problem with my face breaking out a lot more than normal. But, any type of birth control, except Mirena, has made me gain weight when on it. Implanon was second choice for me...was going to get Mirena put back in but my clinic wasn't using Mirena at the time. And there's no way hubby and I can afford anymore children and I can never remember to take pills so I'm on Implanon and then I think next year, we're looking into getting dh snipped. Also, while I do have very, VERY light periods, lately, they'll last close to 2 weeks. =o( But that could just be me...
its really good u just got to be willing to deal with the side effects. i got mine taken out dec 29 08 and im 11 weeks pregnant doesnt make sense huh so that means i was prego when i was on it

now i'm gonna be paranoid....=o( I've been having my light 2 week period every month now since Oct....but none yet this month so far....=o(
I got mine in on August 20. It itched at first but other than that nothing to horrible. I have major mood swings so now I know when I am about to start. I never knew before. I haven't gained any weight or have any acne problems. It's really expensive if your're not on medicaid. I will have to pay for it when it is time to take it out.
I really wanted Implanon because I know I want to try again when Clayton is about four. I however want to be in a serious relationship though.
Want it out!!!
