My son has his appt. with the allergist on Wednesday. I have had skin tests before but I don't know how to explain this to him. He's only 5. Any suggestions. I feel bad not having brought it up before now because I don't want him to feel tricked or anything.
I wish I had a suggestion, I have to make an appointment for my 2 year old. Ugh. Good luck!!!
Hmmmm... mine had them done fairly recently, right around 3 years old. I just told him the truth. I didn't tell him about the skin tests until we were at the dr's office. We didn't know for sure we would have them that day so I didn't have a chance to tell him early- that prob. would have been bad for him at that age anyway. I'm sorry I don't have any clever advice. I'd just tell him the truth and insist that it's necessary to make sure he doesn't get sick, that you need to find out what makes him sick so you can avoid it... GOOD LUCK!
Dawn from So. Cal.
3 year old son allergic to cow's milk, goat's milk, eggs, peanuts, chicken, corn, yeast, cantaloupe, honeydew, cashews, msg, and dawn dishwashing liquid.
I make allergy alert items- check them out here--> dawnberries
Is there a reason the dr is doing skin pricks (which will only show an allergy) instead of a RAST test that can also determine sensitivities & only takes a blood draw?
