I have a brownie meeting here next wed the 11th.  I will have about 11 2nd grade girls.  We need to make a non-religious craft to sell at the holiday bazaar.  We need about 100 product.  The troop has funds for me to purchase supplies.

I need a fun craft that each girl can easily make 10 of in 1.5 hours.  I personally do not like crafts for crafts' sake... I would like something at least useful.

Ideas????

You could always try things like gingerbread men (real or with felt) or snowmen. We made tons of felt gingerbread men last year and then decorated them with glitter glue. Either of those are still holiday standards with no religious undertones to them. Good luck!

that is cute... but what do you do with them?

With the gingerbread men we put magnets on the back of some so that they could be put on the fridge. Some of them we used a hole punch and added some fishing line and made them into tree ornaments. With the snowmen we made them into strands of garland (again with fishing line) and added a sign in the middle saying "Happy Holidays"

My daughters second grade class is making snowmen from plain white tube socks. They are stuffing them with cotton, using twist ties to make them into three parts and then decorating them. You would have to go to a craft store and purchase the small black top hats to cover where they are tied together at the top. Each one has a small block of wood in the bottom to make them sit flat. They are adorable!

I made bracelets with my girl scouts a few weeks ago and they were able to make about 5 each in 20 minutes. I pre-cut and bent a whole bunch of jewelry wire for the bracelets and all the girls had to do was put the beads on and then I bent the other side.  You can make them holiday themed by adding charms and choosing the right color beads.  I know it's really hard to find a "quick" craft for the girls to do.  Anything involving glue will most likely take FOREVER! lol

At our kids school we have the "kids Care Club" and  every year they make decorated pencils....they glue on pipe cleaners, colored cotton balls, googly eyes..etc.....we sell them on the bagel cart and they are a HUGE hit.

What about some type of ornaments? Maybe go to your local Michael's or Joanns for ideas...plus you can use a coupon for supplies!

One of the things that we're doing with our Scout troop is making reindeer ornaments.  These have been around forever.  You get the old style clothespins  (Michael's has them), red pom poms for noses, googly eyes, white pom poms for tails, and green ribbon for a bow.  The clothespins are glued together opposite of each other.  One end of the clothespin becomes antlers, the other end becomes feet.  They turn out really cute, and to save time can be glued together before meetings so the girls just decorate them.

Cookies in a Jar, Hot Chocolate Mix in a Jar, or Soup in a Jar would all sell well.  To keep costs down you could always use clear plastic bags or inexpensive plastic containers.

Or how about making ponchos.  The instructions I provide (below) say to sew one edge, but to make it a no-sew project, use the ties along the sewn edge instead.    Very easy.

Here's the instructions for all of these ideas, http://www.ptoideas.com/category/5/Simple-Craft-Ideas

Enjoy!
