Hi ladies, my 7 year old daughter Brianna has been swearing alot lately and I don't really know what to do about it. My husband (her father) and I don't swear around the kids, but if the kids aren't around we do once in awhile. She hasn't heard us swear but she says the f word and a few other swear words. What should I do about it?

I don't allow my 6-yr-old to swear. He has heard a few words (yes, out of my mouth even a few times), but knows that they are not appropriate and that he is not allowed to use them. He's actually really "great" at reminding me when I've slipped up.
The rule here is that he gets one warning, after that its time in his room or a different privilige revoked for a day or two.
I had to start cleaning up my act when I caught him, as a 3-year-old, trying to pound a block into some container saying, "Damnit, Damnit, Damnit." Had to hide my laugh first, because he was at least using it pretty appopriately. But that's when we had our first talk about "Mommy and Daddy words," that were not appropriate for kids.
I think I've cleaned my own act up pretty good because my 3.5 yr old son hasn't started saying anything bad yet. Yeah me!

My 6 yr old hasn't ever sworn but my 7 yr old sure has. We keep telling her that she can't use that language. I've given her a few spankings and sent her to her room but it doesn't seem to work.

We're the same here. My DH and I do not swear. We have taught our boys that that language in not to be used in our family. If their best friend is swearing a lot. I have gone over to they house and talk to the parents with by boy with me. So they know that language is not acceptable. They still have some friends that swear and their parent don't care. They now they can not repeat some of their words. When their friends are over at our house. I tell them they can not swear in this house or they can go home. So far they all have chosen to not swear in my house. LOL See even those kids like a few rules.

Does your daughter get a allowance? If so, you can start charging her a quarter every time she says a curse word. Just get a Jar and have her put a quarter into it every time she slips up!
Had to laugh! This is what my aunt used to do with her 6 daughters (my cousins) and any of the rest of us (family or friends) that were over at her house. She said we were paying for her trip to Vegas. It was pretty effective though. Her 3-yr-old granddaughter even told on me once, said I was using a "Grandma only" word and that I owed a quarter. It was hillarious, but I paid up (think I was about 17 or so at the time).

Yeah we give her an allowance so that is a pretty good idea. I don't think she'll want money taken away from her.
