My 7 year old daughter doesn't want to ride the bus because it gets home too late. It's hard for me to go pick her up everyday so I'm having her ride the bus to and from school. Well she is throwing a fit about it and I'm not about to give in and just drop her off and pick her up everyday. Has anyone else had a simular problem?

As a school bus driver I see this alot. Hold your ground. Please don't give in on the AM ride if you can, I have seen this too often and then had to wait at the stop while mom talks the child down as they are pitching a fit and know mom will give in.Maybe you can pick up her once in a while as a treat.

She better start to understand that I'm not going to give in. I don't know why she throws fits like this. I have a 6 yr old that also rides the bus and he doesn't give me any problems about it.

Don't give in... She will eventually learn she has no choice but to ride the bus to get home.
Yesterday she missed her bus and walked home. It's not like we live in a dangerous area or anything like that but I told her that I need to know where she is at all times and I didn't know that she was walking home. I was so mad at her, I started yelling at her and she was crying. I'm just at a loss of what to do now.

I had a similar problem with my son and later found out he was getting bullied on the bus. I would ask her if there was any other reason she didn't want to ride her bus or even ask your other child. I would definatly punish her for walking home though. If she thinks she'll only get yelled at for it there is a huge chance she might do it again. My son got to where he would tell the nurse he was sick just so I would have to come to the school and get him so he didn't have to ride the bus!! Good luck!!
I give my dd the choice, I ask her every day what she wants then just pick her up or bring her depending on what she wants
Thankfully my daughter is not on the bus long....30 minutes or so in the afternoon and only about 10 15 minutes in the morning! She too doesn't like to ride the bus but her problem is a few bully/troublesome kids. Every year it is something!! My daughter LOVES her bus driver and she will let her move to another seat if she asks.....that is the thing, she most days doesn't ask then comes home angry, like there is something I should be able to do. She has got to stand up for herself!
I'd say stick to your guns.....i pick my daughter up when I can, today is one of those days and she LOVES it!!!
Have a great day ladies :)

Maybe there is something else going on, and she is not telling you ( A bully perhaps?) I would talk to her and get down to the real problem.

The only time my son got tired of riding the bus is when he was being bullied. That situation has been resolved now. You might want to find out more from your daughter. It was going on for awhile before my son decided to say something to me. I wished I had asked more questions sooner.
