what are you getting your boys for the holidays?
I am working on my 6 yr old x-mas list. So far he has that transformer track set and a scooter. Trying to cut back this year but get things I know they will play with or enjoy:)
I have a 6-yr-old boy and a 3-yr-old boy. My 6-yr-old really wants a scooter also. He's had a 2nd-hand 3-wheel scooter for the last 3 years, but really wants a "real" scooter now (only 2 wheels). That is definitely something I'll be looking into.
Both of my boys also really like the Matchbox popup sets. http://www.amazon.com/Mattel-Matchbox-Dino-Adventure-Set/dp/B000W60E7G/ref=sr_1_20?ie=UTF8&s=toys-and-games&qid=1258395487&sr=1-20 We got one about 9 months ago and they both love playing with it. I've already picked up two (one for each of them), that will be under the tree this December. They are small enough and fold up for portability, so we can bring them along most anywhere. We even take them to restaraunts so the kids can have something to play with at the table while we wait.
The Matchbox Mega Rig sets have been a big hit with my boys also. We currently have the Shark one..... http://www.amazon.com/Mattel-Matchbox-Mega-Shark-Adventure/dp/B000OC2W50/ref=sr_1_8?ie=UTF8&s=toys-and-games&qid=1258395644&sr=1-8 , and the Fire Brigade http://www.amazon.com/Mattel-Matchbox-Mega-Fire-Brigade/dp/B000W5V610/ref=sr_1_10?ie=UTF8&s=toys-and-games&qid=1258395644&sr=1-10 . They are very interested in the pirate ship one, and I'll probably pick that up for them. The pieces from all the sets fit together (intermixing the sets)and my boys spend hours putting together very unique vehicles.
Other than that, I'm going to also look into the "Kinex" sets. We haven't got any of these, but at a family reunion this last summer, my 6-yr-old really seemed to enjoy them.

My son is getting a DS this year. I have one and he really enjoys playing it, so I got him his own for this year.
He is also getting some more Bakugan toys to go with the ones he got for his birthday.
My two oldest boys 8 and 5 have some pretty outrageous stuff on there list this year. My oldest asked for a cell phone, video camera, computer games, pogo stick(random), telescope, and portable dvd player. My 5 year old has agreed to all of the above because he is my 8 year olds shadow.
So far, off of this list we have a portable dvd player for one that is a hand me down from his uncle who is being very sweet and giving it away. So, now I need to get one for my 5 year old. I'm looking for something durable but cheap. And we have his telescope that they can share since they both share a room, and then I'm thinking that some computer games. But, I have 4 kids so I have to be really careful with our budget so I'll see what I can do.
My 7 year old has very few things on his wish list. Basically it's a few games for his DS (the latest Pokemon, Bakugan and Spore Hero), Bakugan toys, Lego sets -- Bionicle, Space Police and Agents. He'll be in his glory if he gets any of those things in any quantity. :)

My son, 7, really wants the Pocket Rocket motorcycle but we cannot afford it. I haven't bought anything yet, but I know I'll be getting him a mp3 player, he's really gotten into music lately, especially Michael Jackson. Not sure on anything else, it feels really hard this year on what to get him.

So far my 6 yr old has gotten a PS2 that we found at a game shop. Its been used, but if he keeps his school work up and takes care of it, maybe we can get him a better system sometime. We got a game he likes for it. He plays his cousins all the time. I also got him a dvd game of Deal or No Deal (he has the handheld version, the board game, the tabletop game, etc...its his fav. game) and a dvd game of The Singing Bee (a lyrics game). I am getting him Apples to Apples and Pictureeka also. He loves those games.
We get each of the 3 kids , 3 gifts each year, 2 reasons, one,, cant afford much, second we started doing the 3 gift idea a few years ago when I read a magazine article about teaching them about the story of Christmas and the meaning and still let them believe in santa. In the story Jesus recieved 3 gifts as do they. all 4 kids are eight- for the larger gifts, one is getting a acoustic quitar, one is getting a new bicycle (last one a neighbor ran over it)not sure about the third childs present yet. Then they each will get two smaller gifts. already have a bakugan game set for one of them.
My parents OVER spoil my son, and he has plenty of toys already so this year we're doing a family gift from Santa which is a Nintendo wii. Other than that my 5 year old will get clothes and really cool stocking stuffers (dvd, star wars clone wars action figures, etc.)
