Just curious, do your children participate in any after-school activities. Are they at the school or do you take them somewhere else? If they're at school, do you have to pay for it?
My son's school doesn't have any after-school programs, which I find very sad. There are about a dozen elementary schools and only three of them have an after-school program called Flagship, they have many different classes for the students. I have worked and volunteered with the program and wish they had it at my son's school.
But he does play sports through the YMCA. He's played soccer for several years and just started basketball. Next fall he'll start football through the parks & rec. He is also in Cub Scouts.
So what do your kids do?

I have a son in 3rd grade and he has soccer practice 2x per week. The games are on the weekends. He used to take some of the after school classes that were offered but this fall, he said soccer was enough.
My daughter just started Kindergarten. She is only playing soccer on Saturday mornings - and that ended today. I need to sign her up for something... The weather is still nice around here so everyday after school, she just runs around the neighborhood with the other kids - they ride bikes and scooters and play hide and seek but nothing organized.

My kids do not have activities through the school but LOTS of activities outside of school throughout the year. Most of their classes and sports we do through the Army Child and Youth Services Program since we're an Army family. Even living off post we save money doing it through them. My daughter does guitar lessons, swim team, basketball, and cross country running and my son does soccer, wrestling and possibly tball this year along with Cub Scouts. We try to keep them busy throughout the year.
Sounds like lots of fun. I son needs to kept busy or he'll drive me crazy, lol.

Our school doesn't have an after school program that is done by the school. We have parks & rec, community ed and YMCA that do programs out of the school. YMCA has a bus that picks up at the school and actual programs at the school Tues and Thurs. Kids that bus are actually in SAC (School age care) but you can sign them up for swimming or sports programs at that Y location and the SAC people escort them to those activites and then back to the SAC area. Parks and Rec alternates their activities in all the elementary schools so depending on which program you enroll your child in you might have to pick your child up and take them to another school or work something out with another mom in your school. Community ed works the same. Programs are right after school and run one night a week for about three months but like parks and rec the programs that are available right after school at your child's elementary are varied and like parks and rec you can register for any program at any of the elementaries you just have to transport your child there.
