Who do you miss the most during the holidays?  I miss several people, but none like my mom.  She was my very best friend.  She passed away April 22, 2008 and not a day goes by that I don't miss her.

Fall was her absolute favorite time of year.  She loved the changing colors.  When I was a little girl, she use to tell me that all the beautiful colors in the sky and on the trees at this time of year was God's paint brush - said always said he loved colors and "painted" these things for us to enjoy.

Let's share a warm memory of a loved one we miss right now.

My grandmother passed away 16 years ago and it can still be hard. None of my family lives nearby, I live in Montana and my mom lives in California, my sister lives in New Mexico with my oldest Aunt and Uncle(they're in their 80s) which I haven't seen probably in about 15 years so I miss all of them. We used to go to my Aunt and Uncle's house for Christmas and their whole family, which was huge, would come over and we would spend that time together. I miss that.

My great grandma.  We used to live right beside her and go to her house everyday.  She would make us toast with peanut butter an butter on it.  She died on Christmas Eve in 1993 on Christmas Eve.

My grandmother. We always went to her house for Thanksgiving and she would make Pumpkin pies and take the left over dough and make Cinnamon twists and I use to steal them and eat them and she would yell at me( Not in a mean way,) She died back in 93 of cancer..I miss her a lot.She would have LOVED my boys and they probably would have been just as spoiled as I was growing up.

There is a lot I miss during the holiday's. My mom passed away in 86 when I was 16 and nothing seems the same sense then, no matter how hard I try to make my own holiday's for my own family. My grandpa died in 1990 and thats when Christmas eve ended with his children (my mom's step siblings). My Grandmother and Aunt moved to Florida 11 yrs ago and there went spending the holiday's with them. My brother and his family never come to my house for anything, so I miss out on seeing my nieces. My list could go on and on, but this is just a few things. This Christmas will be the same as last, but next year I will have one if not two grandbabies to start sharing with. My oldest daughter (21) is due in June and my oldest son and his gf are now telling me they could be expecting as well around the same time. I look forward to that.

I usually miss my grandmother and my grandfather. I rember as a little girl sitting in her kitchen and watching her roll dough and make pies and do everything from scratch. She made this yellow cake that was so good. It was just plain yellow cake with no icing but it was so good.  And also my grandfather sneaking us some cola when my parents weren't looking.

Thanks, ladies, for sharing your stories.  We had a good Thanksgiving.  Thankfully it was not as hard as last years.   I will miss her everyday, but I think I am finally on a true road to healing over it all.

The person I miss the most during the holidays is my best friend. Her and I have been friends for 22 years and she is like a sister to me. She lives in Texas and I'm in Indiana. We call and write but it's not the same as seeing her in person.
