I just got my sons scores back and I'm disappointed in his reading scores, they actually went down from the beginning of the year. I mean really went down. I don't even understand the test to even ask the appropriate question to his teacher other than why did his score go down.
If anyone knows about the test and could give me some advice I would greatly appreciate it.
From what I'm understand there are several children that had their reading scores go down even children that are in the gifted program.

Sorry, my son's school does not do that kind of testing.
Here's a bump for you.
Is it the kind of test that they take 3 times a year; beginning, middle, and end? Our school does that, but it's called something else. What it is measuring is how they compare to the rest of their grade, state, and nation at that particular time. So your son just isn't learning reading as quickly as the rest of his peers.
I have never heard of that. What is it, maybe the schools do something similar, but call it something different.
Even if you don't understand why the score went down or what questions to ask, still speak to his teacher. Just ask if she can explain why his score was so much lower than before. Good luck!
Just wanted to update. He missed 1 question and that is why his 4Sight test score went down. I also talked to his teacher and she gave me some great information to help him. It's hard to explain but when he is asked a question he'll say everything but the key answer. Like for instance say I would ask him about a commercial we just watched. I would say what was that commercial about, he would answer well it had a boy and a girl blah blah blah instead of saying a Dentine commercial. I hope that made sense, lol..

Sounds like something my son would do too. When he would have to keep journals of one sentence summaries of what he was reading, he had a really hard time learning how to describe the gist of it in a short, concise sentence. I think for most kids that's a skill they have to learn.
