Would like some info on the website "poptropica"

My son's friends are playing on this website and have invited him to play.  I have never heard of this site before.  He is 10. 

Any good or bad reports would be helpful.  I am very strick on what he can do online.

"poptropica" is the name of the website.

I had never heard of it, so I looked it up. It looks like pretty harmless site. You have to pay for membership. But all in all it looks like a decent children's site.

My 8 yr old daughter came home with this website address from another child at school, apparently ALL of her classmates are really loving this site. I investigated and it is so cute and she even learns a thing or 2 so i let her join. It seems to be all the rage these days lol:)

 I will usually join a site and "play" on it for a day or 2 before allowing my dd to join.  I want to make sure it's safe/a good place to spend time etc.

Unfortunately this is how I got really into Wizard 101 lol....

My kids love that site.  They learned about it at school and play it at school when they have free time during computer class.

It's like a big, kid friendly, role playing type game.  They wander around these areas, solving puzzles, going on missions and stuff like that.  They are constantly adding new area to explore.

My kids love it and it's really cute.

My 9 year old son is really into it. It seems pretty safe. I just review internet security with him fairly often, and remind him frequently that on any kids' website there are bound to be some people who are only pretending to be kids.
