I have two daughters  ages 7 and 5.  They currently attend public school.   I have been having issues with some of the policies at their school.  I am considering Home Schooling but I am not sure.   Any input would be helpful.   I am not worried about the social aspect of it because we are very involved with church activities and Upward Sports.  Some of my friends home school.

  Thanks!

Try talking to some of the moms in the homeschool group.  They could answer all of your questions and they have a whole section on Q and A's

My mom works for Connections Academy which is an online public school. I know there are other schools that are similar. Basically, it's the advantages of homeschooling and public school. The curriculum is provided, you have the support of a real teacher, etc. But you do the work at home and on your own schedule (to a certain extent. There are deadlines, etc, of course.) If you have any specific questions I'll answer what I know. But I think there are other moms here that have looked into similar schools as well.

If you can prepare them for college, then you should definitely do it. The Happy Homeschoolers group on CafeMom has fantastic women.

I am going to use K12 next year for my girls aged 8 and 7. It is also a public school online.

I would say give it a try.  You can always put them back in school if it doesn't work out and at their ages it shouldn't be a really big deal.

Have you looked into a charter school in your area

I'll just say I've always been told it's the parent's job to teach the child. If they are unable to they should find a school that will do it for them -- a school that follows the parent's wishes. Basically, you're hiring a school/teacher to teach your child in lieu of you. If the school isn't doing that, you have every right to teach them yourself or find another school that is more in line with what you want. Hope that helps some?
