I cry like a baby...

Whenever I read this book.

The Polar Express [Book]

I want to be clear.

I don't tear up. I don't shed a few tears.

I boo hoo like a little baby. I can't help it. I am sprinkling a little right now just thinking about it.

I have a tape of William Hurt reading that I have to play at school because I can't read it. I just can't.

Last year Nate (he was 3) kept asking, "Mama, why you cryin'?"

I just can't help it.

Since I'm feeling so emotional now I will go ahead and share all the tear jerkers I can't read aloud in school.

Rips my heart out every time I read it. This is an amazing book.

I did it with the sixth graders and my co teacher had to read the last few chapters aloud. I couldn't handle it.

Of course I cry when Charlotte dies. But then when you think it's all going to be OK, her babies leave Wilbur and the water works start again.

OK Max

I always ask myself WHY I get all teary eyed and I never come up with the answer.

Got one?

We just had a Night at the North Pole at our school and a couple of teenage girls were reading the Polar Express, lets just say that they each had a box of tissues sitting beside them.

I'm in the middle of this one right now. It's by Barbara Parks (that's right, Junie B. Jones) but don't expect a cute silly little book.

It's an eight grader's story of her brother's tragic death. I am reading it to myself during silent reading and I have cried every day for the past 3 days. It's super sad, but also a very good book.

I do.

It's about what we've lost. It's about the magic that childhood holds that we can never really experience as adults. It's about making sure our kids can hold onto it for as long as possible, but knowing someday they will lose it too.
