What are your thoughts when it comes to serving chocolate milk or white milk at the school? Are you all for it or against it? Why?

I think it's fine. The small amount they get isn't really a huge amount of calories or sugar. Also, most schools serve low fat chocolate milk any way. The kids who bring their lunches are allowed to bring whatever they want to drink, the school lunch kids should have some choice. IMO :)

It doesn't matter either way to me.  At home, my school-aged kids drink milk or water.  Recently I've been making pink lemonade though.  If they get chocolate milk at school, it's the only time of day they have it, so I don't mind.

I have no problem with schools offering chocolate milk.  I do have a problem with it being lowfat.  I think that schools should serve whole milk.  JMO

This "debate" always amazes me. Have we nothing better to think about than the life long effects of *gasp* chocolate milk? I'm sure it will push my kids over the edge into the land of obesity. : /

I'm with you.  I never understand this "controversy".  It's not like kids are eating every meal every day at school.  Chocolate milk here and there is not going to make them overweight.  Now not exercising is another story.

I know I'm very new here and DO want to make friends and at the risk of ruffling a few feathers, I agree with JMO. I feel children need the fat in milk for brain development and assimilation of some vitamins. I also feel it should be given in moderation. There are a few 'issues' I have with dairy milk and it's importance and I also feel chocolate milk is better than no milk. Plus it is only once during the day and not a large quantity.

I'm fine with it.  When I was in school, I would've preferred unsweetened ice tea - I don't like any kind of milk.
